Jeff, I agree and I have since added some light to the surfaces that could have been illuminated by the sun. A longer exposure would likely not have worked since the clouds were moving quite quickly, but a composite may have done it. Alas, that was not an option since my tripod was left in the car. Thanks for your critique. |

Thanks Jean. Glad that you liked it. I am considering submitting a portfolio to PSA and I'm also working on a credential from the Royal Photographic Society (UK). The process is quite arduous and the critiques are more brutal than I get from my friends here and elsewhere. If anyone is interested in a fantastic non-credit course, I recommend this http://www.openuniversity.edu/courses/short-courses/tg089
There is an explanation here https://www.facebook.com/TheOpenUniversitySTEM/videos/tg089-promo/233110347570712/ The next course starts in October. I completed the course offered in October 2018-January 2019 and found it very worthwhile.

Darcy, I like "The Thinker" kind of pose in the silhouette.I might have cropped the foliage on the extreme right though since I (personally) find it a distraction. |

I have to say that you guys are all much too kind. I have seen some examples of exceptional photography and my images are not of that calibre. I am working on it, but not 'there' yet. Maybe some day..... right now I am just trying to follow the rule of the "3 Ps" (practice, practice, practice). |

Exactly right Michael. The sides facing away from the light source will always be shaded. Good eye - I would not want to pass an editing faux pas past you! |

Thanks Paul and Darcy. I have since 'improved' this image with the brush tool in LcR - adding a bit more light to the rocks in the immediate foreground. I don't think it is good enough for any contests but if I can get my act together, I am planning to submit a panel of images to the Royal Photographic Society (UK) this year to qualify for the LRPS designation. |

Michael, I like the bottom left > right composition. I'd like to see a bit more definition in the mountains - maybe 'dehaze' in LR or LcR. I'm not sure if the yellow boat/tub in the centre is distracting or not but I may have cloned it out. |

Jean, Your image is "picture postcard". I don't want to be too critical, but this image may have benefitted from a graduated ND filter. The good news is that you could take the exposure down a notch in PP to get the sky a bit more saturated. |
