The third boat was quite a bit further away when I captured the image. I could have replaced it with a scaled down version of the second boat but I decided that too much manipulation was not appropriate. |

Hi Paul, I like the way that you have captured the starkness of the winter in this BW image and the implied diagonal that draws the observer from the foreground tree on the left to the snow capped mountains in the distance on the right. I am however distracted by the approx 2% slope of the "horizon" line. I also think that it is 1 -2 stops under exposed likely from a reliance on the camera's light meter. If you're not familiar the the "18% grey" concept, reading about it will explain how to compensate. Of course, it's just my opinion..... There is no right or wrong. Am I working on getting kicked out of the group.... ? |

Good evening Jean, For the most part, I like this image. You have captured the reflection of the sky in the water beautifully and the train adds interest to the scene. Perhaps I am overthinking but I find a great deal of "negative space" on the right side. Since train is on the left side, we have the impression of the train moving right to left and thus 'leaving' the right side. I would leave the water grass in the image since it was you saw and adds foreground interest. I have taken the liberty of cropping the image and bumping the saturation a bit. |

This image shows good use of vibrant colour and spontaneity of the situation. I like that this group looks very "old world" while the woman on the right side is using a cell phone. The image suffers however from significant motion blur resulting from too slow a shutter speed. This was likely caused by a small aperture of f/11 or less. I agree that providing the technical data would allow us to diagnose and advise. |

While I echo the comments made earlier, I am distracted by the foliage on the right side of frame. To my eye, it is extraneous and detracts from the strong "S" curve of the path. Respectfully, I would crop the image as indicated... |
