A little smaller aperture might have provided a little greater depth of field and brought the eye into focus. It helps to place the focus point in the camera on the eye whenever possible. However, lightening the eye in post processing helps. |

I agree with the group. The first image looks over saturated to me. I like the reprocessed image better.
I used to be a member of a camera club here in Texas that used outside judges who were very critical, seemed to be biased, and had pet peeves they used to derate images. One or two judges were so down on HDR that I got afraid to use HDR techniques at all. Other judges seemed to be stuck on the rule of thirds. If I didn't understand a judges remarks, I would ask a respected member of the club to explain them to me. Sometimes, they thought the judge was overly critical. |

The back light makes an interesting image. I think a little more light on the front of the leaves would reveal a few more details and might help with auto focus.
I have gotten hooked on Luminar 4 with Topaz DeNoise AI and Topaz Sharpen AI plugins. |

Great photograph as it is.
Beverly, your Topaz adjustment looks over saturated or too much of an HDR look for me. |

I like this image as it is; although, it would be nice if more of the Snake River was visible. This image provides foreground, middle ground, and background subjects. |

Excellent photograph - Birds are very difficult to photograph. I do not see what aperture you used. |

I cropped the right side. That does focus more attention on the cannon. I submitted the new cropped image to the East Texas Camera Club for their July critique judging by all club members.
If the smoke is blown out, there might not be any detail to recover. Should I try a decrease of highlights or whites in Luminar 4? |
