Thanks Karen. See the image above. Maybe it could do with even more saturation. I don't know!

To be honest, At the time, I probably didn't notice the clouds and the mountains in the background, I just wanted a photo of the arch.
Such is the focus of the tourist! *laughs*

Thanks Piers,
Like all travel shots; we are grateful to get the photo regardless of the light and weather.
I consider I was lucky with the conditions and that I have a "half decent" image of the arch.

Thanks Shirley.
I agree with you. A blue sky may have been great with the glistening snow capped peaks in the background, but i may have added a couple of clouds in during post production to add some interest.
I have worked on the saturation of the arch and the clouds as you suggested.

Another lovely photo, Stanley.
I really like the colours in the venues that you shoot your images. They are so bright and happy and this image is no different!
You did really well to get the principle dancer tack sharp while the rest of the image has that horizontal movement blur. Are those ribbons forming the gentle black and gold arches connecting the dancer to the rest of the image?
I really like it. Well done!

Welcome to the group Carter.
I like the "moody" feel about this image.
My eye is attracted to the bright moon peaking through the clouds and then to the bright side of the cabin. I would love to see a little more detail in the areas around the cabin.
But maybe, that is where the mystery of this image lies. It lies in what I cannot see.
Well done. This is an intriguing photo.

I love this image, Karen.
It is tack sharp and I like your post processing.
I especially like how the top leaves are in front of the flower. Most of us would have moved them to one side, but you didn't. As a result you have an image that is more interesting than the average photo of a flower.
Your treatment at the bottom of the image really "makes" this photo. The background is dark and you have removed the light coloured branches and that tiny leaf that was impinging across the petals.
A lovely photo, and as Jim says, put it on the wall and enjoy it.

Shirley, you have done very well to capture such a good image. As Stanley pointed out, lenses at the far end are quite often slightly soft.
Considering that the camera was hand held, you have a great photo even though it lacks some detail in the fine feathers.
Enjoy your photo, it is a great image.
Amateur photographers, like us, have to make the most of the opportunities that we get from tour boats etc. Sometimes we strike it lucky, but we seldom reach the perfection of the "professionals" who make the time and have the opportunity to make great tack sharp nature photos.
I really like your photo as I know exactly the kind of constraints you were under.
Well done.

Piers, I love the original. It is just clear enough to make out the water and the trees behind. However the duck, as karen suggested, does not quite look right. It looks superimposed onto the scene.
I think part of the problem is that the background is backlit and the duck is front lit.
It is an interesting concept.

As a photo, I love it. However as Shirley pointed out, this is someone else's art work. You have photographed the two characters well and your post processing is exemplary, however the credit for the composition, colours and design must lie with the original artist.
Mind you, these two images side by side on the wall at home would look really good.
Well caught with a good intention in mind. You took them for a purpose and succeeded. Well done |

A nice colourful image of the festival goers enjoying a warm evening under the lights.
This is a nicely balanced composition and you have managed to get the full reflection of the trees in water.
The image is tack sharp with a good tonal range. You did well not to blow out the brightness of the white lights hanging from the catenaries. You even managed a slight star burst in one or two of them.
Great image. Well done!

Tom, I am guessing that your camera was mounted on a tripod or was firmly supported somehow for the 3.2 second duration of the exposure.
I agree with Trey about cropping the image on the left hand side and like Marevi, I would like to have seen the top of the "stop" sign.
You have come up with an interesting photo with the "ghostly" figures nicely framed by the rest of the image which is "tack sharp."

Gerhard you caught this fellow "in the moment."
It is a nice "earthy" image of this fellow taking his young family for a walk.
Although the light is flat it makes in interesting and colourful image.
I like it!

Like Marevi, I was intrigued by the lack of people in the bar. It reminds me of an old Australian song by Slim Dusty called a "Pub with no beer."
The lady provides an interesting human aspect to the image, but she is not sitting comfortably on the chair. Why isn't she relaxing?
This image asks a lot of questions. Where are the drinkers at the bar, why is the lady sitting on a chair on the pavement?
This is an interesting and nicely balanced image, Cisco. Well done.

This is an interesting, topical street photo obviously taken in the USA.
I think the image is well suited to monochrome. I like that one of the demonstrators has stepped into the sunlight. He is the highlight of the image and my eye remained on him.
I am afraid that I didn't notice the sign outside the church. But one of the lovely things about street photography is that a story occassionally appears sometime after the image was taken.
Well done and nicely caught.

An interesting and colourful image. I love the red tricycle. I want one!
I am intrigued that this well groomed fellow, dressed in jacket and tie, is wearing "joggers" on his feet.
It is a great photo but maybe,I would like a little more space on the right hand side. |
