2 Oct 25 Comment Karen, I think all your hard work in Photoshop has paid off. You have managed to "subdue" the background enough to seperate the owl from the background without making the image look un-natural.
You were lucky that the long lens was already on the camera and the owl was obliging enough to wait for you to takes it's portrait.
This is a great, tack sharp, nicely composed image.
Well done.

2 Oct 25 Comment Piers, you have caught this image just at the right moment. It is a scene that many may have regarded as mundane; but with a strong crop and a good colour palette you have created a really interesting image.
I prefer the "displayed" image more that the monochrome one.
Well done and well caught.

2 Oct 25 Comment A lovely image, Shirley. It takes me back to the times we went "leaf peeping" in New England and visited the Finger Lakes in NY State.
I like the way the eye is guided along the reflection in the water, between to rocks to the small waterfalls in the background.
I like that the colour in your final image has been saturated a little. Well done

2 Oct 25 Comment Jim, this is a nicely thought out image. I like the depth created by the three main participants in this image. In particular I like the intensity of the gaze of the statuette.
Maybe you could "square up" the photo of "young Evan." The top right hand corner of the photo of him tilts upwards. To fix this, in photoshop select the area of the photo, then Edit>transform>warp and drag that top corner down a little.
A lovely image, well done.

40 Oct 25 Comment Hi Julie. I am just visiting from another room.
This is a lovely image and I really like it. I am not sure that I wouls change anything. It is "tack sharp" and beautifully exposed. You have followed all the rules. You have a foreground, middle ground and background. You have an odd number of boats in the foreground (something that photographers apparently like), but that stone breakwater/causeway worries me a little (and just being super picky).
It cuts the image in two and the right hand end of it leads my eye out of the image.
Maybe a hard crop and concentrate on just the boats might create a stronger image. Just a thought!

56 Oct 25 Comment Tom, I can understand why you were attracted by the moodiness of this scene. You have captured it well with the eye being drawn into the image by the foreground row of lights towards the bar in the background. At first I didn't notice the silhouette of the person/s at the bar. Maybe lighten the background a little to bring out some detail in this area.
You have certainly shown us the "dark mood" in this image.

56 Oct 25 Comment Gerhard, thank you for the explanation regarding the naming of the Quiver tree. I have learnt something new today.
I like how the one looks through the gateway into another world. There is a band of commercialism in the foreground, then the photographers and then the Quiver tree forest in the background; which is the reason all this activity.
A great photo, well done!

56 Oct 25 Comment Cisco, you have caught a lovely intimate photo of this couple. Well done. The reflection in the window doesn't bother me .. it is a street photo and the subject and story, in the moment, are more important than quality of the image.
I suspect the camera focused on the window frame and the lady's shoulder, and if so, and I am a little surprised the man was not in focus as well considering the depth of field with the lens and camera settings you used.
A great photo!

56 Oct 25 Comment A nice sharp image with plenty of action. I like the conversion to mono and I like the crop.
Nicely done
