Stanley, this is a lovely landscape. I like the black and white treatment, in particular I like gradient from the very dark foreground through to the completely white top of the image.
I can imagine you could do some magic with the colour version.
I enjoy the way Chinese artists paint mountain scenes with swirling mist drifting between the peaks and with small trees growing out of crevices in the rocks.
I am sure we will see some photos like this from you in the future. I love your creativity.

This is a lovely bright, sharp image. I particularly like the contrast between the soft petals of the flower and sharp spikes on the main plant.
I agree with the previous comments about the background. I am sure you can find a drop in background that compliments the plant better than the stucco wall.
As for motivation; maybe arrange a photo outing with one of your club members who photographs in a different genre, and try their genre.
I did this sometime ago when I started street photography. I had become bored with landscape, portraiture, still life photography etc. and needed something different.
I hit the streets with a friend and just took photos. At the end of the day, I ended up with photos of people, weird shapes, interesting shadows, silhouettes, reflections in shop windows etc.
Although most of my street images are really "crap" and do very poorly in club competitions (as do most street photographs), I find that the actual process of being out and about and taking photos of something different is fun!
No pressure! Try it!

A great action shot with the horse in full stride as it approaches the finish post. I like your cropping. The winner is highlighted and has space to run into, although is looks a little as if it is running downhill.
The signage in the background adds to the story and the environment, showing a great day out at the races.

I like the natural framing you have used with overhanging branches and foliage. It draws the my eye into the scene, provides depth and draws my eye to the small island. The lighting is soft and warm and brings out the rich green tones in the foliage. It would be interesting to see how the image would look if you slightly lightened the foliage of the trees on the island and in the reflection. |

A nicely caught image. The details in the feathers are sharp and the exposure is good; there is even a slight catch light in the eye.
You have done a good job with the post processing to produce this high key image.

Thanks Trey, you make a good point about the cropping at the bottom of the image. |

An interesting photo and it appears to have been well worth the wait for this couple to walk into your scene. Your post processing has left, a somewhat surreal image with very little sunlight to falling anywhere apart from the couple.
I like the dark tones and the contrast between the couple and their environment.

The lady has made eye contact with you and so there is an engagement between the two of you. Your image shows the arid environment in which these people live. It is harsh and unforgiving.
I understand the reasoning behind your cropping of this image. You have eliminated much of the clutter, however I wonder what it would be like if we could have a "peek" over that high wicker compound fence and see a little of what is beyond it.

I have always associated steel drums with the Caribbean and warm, humid climates. So this is different. I like that you have captured these two fellows on a cold, bleak day, dressed in their parkas and warm clothing and then there is the restaurant behind them inviting you to a warm chowder bread bowl. A great story |

I like the juxtapositions of the taller upright man and the smaller hard working older man. It is an interesting story. I wonder if there might be another story if you had been able to photograph both of them from the front and walking towards you.

This is a striking high contrast architectural image that works well in monochrome. There is nice repetition with the square windows, square tiles and dark shadows |
