Well done in being selected to show an image in the PSA Showcase. It is another great nature photo. Excellent! |

Karen, my old version of Photoshop doesn't include AI so any alterations I do are done with the clone tool. I find using it very theraputic |

I took many thousands of photos on this trip; most of the street photos feature the old American cars.
I would like to go back and take more photos, but it is a long way from here to the Americas. |

This is a beautiful image, Piers. The vibrant orange color of the Heliconia stands out nicely against the green foliage background.
I like the composition. My eye is lead through the image with the diagonal lines of the bloom and is held in the centre by the brightness of the background light filtering through the foliage.
The focus is "tack sharp" and captures the delicate textures of the plant.
The lighting is soft and diffuse. Is this all natural light or did you use another light source as well?

This is an interesting image, Karen.
I think I might have been tempted to drink the beer!
I would like to see how it looks without the packet of biscuits, leaving just the three leaning against the cheese board, and I might remove the blue/white object in the foreground thereby reducing the business of the image.
I like the way the cloth leads the eye into the image.
Maybe a fraction more separation between the two glasses and I would like to see how it looks with the background highlight lowered so that it shines through the glasses a little more, rather than above.
An interesting image. Well done! |

This is a wonderful shot of the bridge, showcasing the grandeur of the harsh engineered steel structure against a beautiful, natural backdrop. The lighting is warm and inviting, which enhances the tones of the foliage and the bridge itself.
Your drop in sky works well.
I like the composition, with the bridge creating a strong diagonal line through the frame, leading the eye from one side to the other.
The image is "tack sharp" and the bridge fills the whole frame. Well done!

Tor, this is a dynamic image! You've managed to freeze the action beautifully, showing the biker in mid-air with crisp detail. The contrast between the rider's colorful gear and the green backdrop of trees creates a strong visual interest. The framing is great, with enough space around the subject to give a sense of the height and movement. It's a strong sports action shot that tells a story of adventure and skill.
Well done.

Terri, Once again you have come up with a wonderful nature image.
The kestrel and it's prey are both "tack sharp" and perfectly exposed. The softer tail feathers don't worry me as they lead me off into the even softer background.
The colour palette is great and your timing is perfect
Well done, this is a lovely image, even though the subject might be a little gruesome. |

I like this image, Jim, but I might try and lighten the foreground; the overall image seems a little dark and under exposed.
I agree with Shirley that the "wispy" clouds form an integral part of this image |

Hi Terri,
Thanks for your suggestions. I have used this image for awhile as a competition image and in the FIAP competitions that I enter, the rules state:- "Techniques that add, relocate, replace or remove any element of the original image, except by cropping, are not permitted."
I agree with you that "tidying up" the image might make it a neater image photographically, but if it is to remain a "competition" image then it must stay as it is.

Julie, what a sensational image!
Well done.
It expresses the feeling of a defeated/exhausted knight.
I like the B&W treatment and I also like the way Don has rotated it slightly to make the bench he is leaning on horizontal.
A great image.
