As Piers suggested, you might consider changing this to black and white, but unlike Piers I would opt for an all black sky.
This seems to be the latest architectural photography trend at the moment.

Thanks Karen. As I mentioned in my reply to Jim, I took 1,000 images that evening and this was the only one of a bat with it's tongue out, so I am really happy with it.

Thanks Julie. There are a couple of bird photogaphers who took some absolutely blinding images on the same evening. I will keep working on this "bat genre" .... and Elon Musk will have to wait! |

Thanks Jim. I am a true novice at this kind of photography. The advantage of photographing bats is that fly a bit slower that the average bird. Having said that, I ended up with 60 good to mediocre images from a filled camera card of 1,000 images.
Unfortunately the cooler weather is upon us and I will have to wait until next summer to practice some more |

Thanks Piers. I will look at darkening the left hand side of the image. It depends on what I intend to do with this image. Competition rules in some "Nature" sections are very strict, but I agree with you a graduated darkening on parts of the image would improve it.

A nicely caught image with the wings spread beautifully.
You stated that you were looking for a high key monochrome image and you have succeeded in doing that.
However I would like to see a litte texture in the background, rather than the plain white and perhaps you could put a small highlight in the eyes.
Well done

Many years ago my wife and I left Passau on a river cruise to Budapest and back. I don't recall Passau looking as beautiful as it has come out in your photo.
I like Jim's suggested cropping and I like the rising mist partially obscuring the background houses and countryside. Maybe crop it a little more to emphasize the buildings and the reflection. This is a nicely timed shot as the cruise boat would have moved on quickly and this composition lost.
Well done.

"A walk in the park" is the title I would give this image, Jim.
I like your cropping as it removes all the extraneous parts of the original image.
I like the lighting; it is almost backlit although the sun is high up and to the front right hand side. Not everyone would have tried that.
The warm fuzzy glow around the chicks is superb.
A great shot.

Terri, I like the image and as you said in the preamble, it is an old photo, so I suspect you have learnt a lot about Boudoir photography, working with models etc. since then. I know the feeling when something goes wrong in a studio shoot and everyone expects you to put it right!
There are innumerable gurus out there who will suggest minor changes to improve any image. eg. Louise Adler, Gerry Ghionis to name just two.
I think all might agree that the left hand would be better lying across the back of the chaise lounge and visible side on. The eyes should be focussed on something within the image so we are not left wondering if she is looking at something more interesting outside of the frame.
Gerry Ghionis was suggest that if a limb can be bent then it should be bent. I refer to her left leg which might look better if it was bent at the knee and the toes pointed a little. That might free up the right leg so that it can be straightened a fraction and the ankle not wedged in beneath the top leg.
You have done well in getting the model more or less in one plane to the camera so the is little or no foreshortening of her body (right knee in particular) and she is nicely and comfortably stretched out along the chaise lounge.
Maybe run a linear gradient filter down from the top right hand corner to darken the wall paper a little.
I think this is a great photo and the one thing I really DO LIKE is that the model has no tattoos and is not wearing face furniture! But that is just me.
Well done!

This is a great tack sharp image. Maybe you could use it in a portrait competition somewhere!
Well done, I really like it
