The streets are full of interesting people and faces and I am always on the lookout for new ones. It is just a matter of seizing the moment when one pops up.
I like both the colour and the black and white versions of this image. As the accordion was black I thought about making the rest of the image black and white. I think it works, but so does the colour version.
As suggested above, I will tone down the hightlights in the background on both versions
I have edited the third image as suggested below by Jim

Welcome back Karen.
How did you get this image so sharp? One could easily believe that it has been focus stacked!
As I read down through the comments I can see this image is "developing" with time and the suggestions.
I like Piers' suggestions and I like the darkening and blurring of the bud to the left of the flower. Maybe the bud on the lower right of the flower needs the same treatment. It is very sharp and bright.
A lovely image and one for the wall of the gallery! |

I am guessing this is the Milky Way when everything was quite dark.
I think your settings are good. There is a rule somewhere that suggests the exposure should be no longer than 30 seconds, otherwise you will pick up movement in the stars. The 15 second exposure is well within this limit and you have sharp stars.
You have handled the noise in the image well with an ISO of 2000.
I am curious to know what the glow in the sky is. Is it the moon through the clouds or is it reflected light from some other source such as the lights from a nearby town?
I like the tree, even if it is slightly blurred. It connects the foreground to the sky.
I like this image. |

You have done well to capture the action, Piers. The image is sharp and well exposed. The action is there but the story becomes a little lost as the fish (the cause of the squabble) is not there.
I like your second post where the fish is visible and a story can be told.
You have to be really lucky to capture a good nature action shot.
This shot captures the moment well, but the story is a little blurred.

I think this is a great photo, Jim. I like the complementary blue and oranged colours and the intersecting circular shapes. Emphasised of course by the replacement blue sky, which I think looks great. It is sharp and it is interesting.
The new sky has really lifted the image and photoshop has handled the masking extremely well.
This of course leads us towards the great debate about the future of judging of competition images and AI. It is sharp and it is interesting.
A great photo and a vaste improvement on the original, in my opinion.
Well done |

Piers you make an interesting observation about the hands. I hadn't noticed them and had concentrated only on the face. I tend to become obsessed with one aspect of an image and overlook the rest.
To me, black and white was the only way to go. There are so many different colours in the original that the image becomes too busy and the eye wanders.
I agree with your comment about Original 3. I will work on it in the near future. |

Thank you Karin. You raise a valid point. I have already toned down those parts, but as they caught your eye, it is clear I need to darken those spots down a little more. Thank you for the suggestion.
One of the great things about this forum is that you get constructive comments from the other members.
How does this look now?
