I have had a bit of a play with your image in Photoshop using the perspective crop tool.
Just a thought! |

I like the colour palette with the bright colours in the centre. It is almost like and oil painting. However, I would like to see more of the window frame and surrounds. There are some wonderful textures in that part of the image. I feel you may have cropped this image too tightly.
I am not sure that it fits in the category of "Through the window." My first impression was that this is more of a reflection, but there again it maybe a well have been taken from a well lit interior looking out through some old striated glass. I think the weathered timber debunks my second thought.
Your score may well depend on how lenient the judge is with his interpretation of the definition. |

Thanks Jim,
Concert photography is always a challenge. While sitting in the audience, one has no control over the lighting. There is always a clutter of microphones between you and the artist and invariably the foldback speakers at the front of the stage cut the artists off at the knees. I envy the professional photographers who can move about and photograph from the front of the stage. |

Using the wonders of Photoshop, the bass guitarist now has a whole left hand.
Thank you all for your suggestions and comments. |

Hung this is a great nature shot. I know we are all wise after the event, but it would have been even greater if you had stepped to your left slightly so that vertical post didn't impinge on the image. I would also pull down the "highlights" slider in Lightroom to try and drag out a little more detail in the white feathers.
A lovely image. |

Thanks for your comments Julie. I have been debating in my mind about the halo from the stage light in the top corner. I believe it helps to explain the reason for the blue background lighting without detracting from the main focus of the guitarist, who is saturated with white light. It also helps to fill in a black empty corner of the image. |

This is a beautiful, simple image. It is extremely well done and you have had to do very little work on it. It is almost straight out of the camera. The camellia is sharp and I love the background and the blurred leaves and bud. A wonderful image. |

I think this is a great image. I love the "sun burst." It seems to lift the image and add life to it. I have never seen ice crystals form like this, they seem like the fronds on a fern. There is a little mystery in trying to determine the actual size of the bubble in the final image.
I like it. Well done |

A great shot, Julie. I like the harshness of the brick work compared to the softness on the shadow. Well done |

This is a great shot that tells a story that is familiar to all Australians. However it is quite "static." I would like to have seen the a shot just as the competitors surged towards the water.
An interesting shot might have been to move to the left hand end of the row of surfers, and shoot down the line of faces and surfboards with an ever diminishing depth of field (focus).
Just a thought. |
