This being the end of the year, I want to wish all of you a very warm and happy holiday season. Sadly we are losing both Ham Hayes do to lack of participation and communication (Ham if you see this We hope you are OK. Get in touch) and also our newest member Hazel because of technicalities beyond my control. Hazel, as to your one and only entry to Group 20, it was adorable {and Shirley kittens have NO mischief;} Hazel, good luck in Group 41.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

Hi Shirley, You are right, it does look like a bird. You did a great job erasing the B+W from the wreath and bird. I think I would like to see it a tad bit sharper, but that might blow the effect. Nice job. |

Hazel, first of all Welcome to our group. I hope you find it interesting, fun and enjoyable. Your image put a very big smile on my face. What a great capture. I really cannot suggest anything. Love it! |

Bob, I am sorry for your loss. It is a tough road to travel. I think this image is a very touching tribute to Sue. With the chosen color, the pose, the singular tree, they all combine to see that she is lost in her thoughts. I felt that before I read your commentary. The only thing that I might suggest is it looks as though the horizon (waterline) is slightly tilting to the right. Again, sad but beautiful story being told. |

Sam, this is very interesting and a very good conversion. I like that you got rid of the lights, open window, door on the right and remembered to get rid of the hanging light reflections. (I normally forget that). At first I thought the oval was slightly slanted to the right, but I guess that is just an optical illusion do to where the center post and top of stair case is located. Interesting location as well. |

Angela, I think you did an awesome job on this and the fly put the icing on the sugar cookie (its Christmas time). I really can't think of anything I would change. |

Hi Lance, Just like Bev, I enjoy the colors presented both in flowers and butterflies. Having said that, and knowing your passion for B+W, I recently was looking at a Nature Master Class offered by Nat Geo in book and CD form. I only looked at the book, and from what I could see, your image was far superior to the images found there. Having said that, I still like color :} |

Hi Pinaki. I agree with Lance. I think I see the focal point(dead center and edges on both sides). If I were shooting this orchid, I think I would have used a smaller aperture for greater DOF and focusing more on the colorful inside of the orchid, which at f/5.6 would most likely include the entire center in focus. And as Lance said... Manual Focus ALWAYS. |

I agree with Lance, fortunately I live in a moderate climate in South Carolina. We have Brookgreen Gardens close by, which offers us strolls like this year round which we make use of. Nice image Bev. |

The two flowers were approx. three to four feet apart. I liked the vibrant, youthful spirit of the front flower and the way the rear flower was hanging on along with its seed sacks. I wanted to show the two stages together, therefore the merger. |
