Nicely done, Charles. Your extensive processing really brought out a gem from a rough stone. My only suggestion would be to brighten the building a bit to add a bit more "layering" to the composition. |

Wonderful study of contrasts, Nenette. I love the lone figure confronting the sheer power of the waves. The compression created by your choice of lens and settings gives a sense of danger. Well done. |

This place is on my bucket list!
I love this, Sheldon.
This placement of the trees leading back to the lit area in the distance works beautifully. I like both the color and the monochrome treatments, but I find the monochrome one especially compelling. Reminds me of Clyde Butcher's work. |

I love this, Murphy. I'm pretty sure I've encountered this same staircase but did not think to photograph it. Your processing is spot on, and I had a similar reaction as Sheldon thinking that I was looking at a starry sky at the center. I hope you get a chance to make a print. |

Peter,
My apologies. I've been really busy this last week or two and am only now getting caught up. Please go ahead and send me the revised version and I'll notify the group. |

Ed,
Nicely seen and, compositionally, this work well. I like the interplay of the different architectural styles throughout the image. You might consider lightening and slightly blurring the area around Ben to give him a sense of distance. |

Thanks, Charles. I do tend to go with really dark skies in my infrared work but try for a lighter touch when doing more conventional monochrome. I will take another look at this one with your comments in mind. |

Thanks, Peter. It's a good point. I played around with the lightness and darkness of the tree and decided to go with this treatment as it seemed to bring out the detail in the trunk more. I'll take another look and try your suggestion. |

It was just the second time for me, but I was able to explore the area more extensively than I was the first time. It's a remarkable place and "made" for IR.
I agree with you about Emil's treatment. I think he caught what I was trying to accomplish more successfully than I did. |

Thanks, Steve. Well worth the trip.
I think the artifact you're referring to is sensor dust. Lots of dust in this area. |

Absolutely wonderful, Steve. I did a similar trip about 15 years ago and mostly just left the IR camera in the bag. I wish I'd brought it out more often.
I love how the IR really brings out the stripes of the zebras and the spots on the giraffes. I even like the two blurry birds as it gives the overall composition a dynamic feel. Well done! |

Beautifully composed, Emil. The S curve winding through the trees with the man and his dog adds interest. Processing was exactly right. Who says you can't do great IR in winter? |

Hi Charles,
I love stuff like this. Whatever the disorder is, take comfort in knowing that you are not alone. <g>
Your arch is wonderful, but what really makes we stop and study this image is the near perfect row of trees and lanterns (?). The contrast of trunk and foliage is spot on. I hope you get a chance to print this. I suspect it'll freeze people in their tracks when they see it on the wall. |

Jack,
I really like your image, but see what you mean about the sky. I decided to pull a "gary" and try a version with a great deal more contrast. I selected the sky, masked out the clouds and darkened it quite a bit. I also did a bit of dodging and burning to bring out the clouds and even out the water. |

Beautifully composed and processed image, Arik! I too love the shadow play along the side of the foreground barn. I liked the added detail of the "quilt" piece on the background barn. My wife and see these in our travels and enjoy the creativity that goes into making them. |

Nicely seen, Melanie. I love how the curved trees frame the image. The path is perfectly placed in the frame. I do like Emil's treatment as well. |
