Thanks, Peter. My intent was to minimize the houses as I felt they detracted from the main subjects. I can see your point, however. |

Charles,
You found a terrific subject and your composition is excellent. I like the way you positioned the old church. I agree with others that the clouds are a bit "overcooked" and I'm not sure I'm a fan of the overall darkness of the image but I can see where it might have felt appropriate given the subject.
P.S. I concur with Murphy. Your PSA Journal article was very good. |

Sheldon,
Great image for black and white processing. The color version is fine but is basically a postcard or tourist shot. Your monochrome conversion turns this into a fine art image!
My only minor nits: there's a bit of white haloing in the tree right above the tower. I find my eye is drawn to it. Also, I'd suggest lightening that cloud on the left side a bit to match the tonality of the other clouds.

Murphy,
You found just the right place to stand when taking this picture. The various elements of the scene balance well (desks, bookshelves and map, stove and desk, and so on). I don't especially love sepia toning but it's clearly the right choice here. Well done. |

Peter,
I love subjects like this and I really enjoy seeing what other photographers do when confronted with these scenes. I like this image very much.
I agree with the others about the highlights, but most of my attention is drawn to the dashboard details (knobs, dials, logo, etc) so it doesn't bother me as much. You could probably crop in a bit from the top and the left side and reduce the distraction by quite a bit. |

Hi Ed,
Wonderful capture of an exciting moment. I concur with the others about your outstanding tonality. The first thing that occurs to me when viewing this is the contrast in texture between the choppy water and the smooth skin of the whale. Makes it almost feel abstract. |

Thanks, Charles. I think the hotel at Lake Louise was built by the same people that built the Empress (Canadian Pacific). |

Thanks, Melanie. I'll bet it was a great memory which justifies all kinds of things. I agree that there are a lot of things worth photographing in that place, especially around Christmas. |

Thanks, Emil. I didn't have to spend that much on coffee, but I will say that meals weren't particularly cheap anywhere we went. Thank goodness for a favorable exchange rate. |

Thanks for the info, Steve. We used Navajo guides in our Monument Valley and Canyon de Chelly workshop last year. I'd certainly want to use them here. |

The Bisti Badlands have been on my bucket list for some time, but your image just pushed them up closer to the top. Terric image in every way, Steve. Your composition, that amazing sky, and your processing all conspire to create a remarkable piece of art. I hope you get the opportunity to print this. |

Hi Emil,
I like everything about this image. Your narrow crop reinforces the vanishing path. The processing takes that even further, telling a compelling story about looking at the road ahead. Perfect for New Years Day! |

Hi Charles,
It's a great subject for any kind of photography, but I do love shooting Prague landmarks in IR. I like your processing and I think you succeeded in making this image dark and foreboding. A couple of nits: I think I like your original composition more than your crop. I like having more room for the foreground trees plus your crop makes the cathedral tilt to the right a bit which I find distracting. |

Terrific abstract, Arik. It's an image that rewards the careful viewer. It took me a moment before I even noticed the otter as I was so taken by the overall composition. The contrasts between the lights and shadows work together to create an image worthy of printing and hanging on the wall. |

Hi Melanie,
I really like this. As you say, the rocks add drama as well as a terrific leading line to the lighthouse. I agree with your choice to remove the poles as it creates a more stark composition. I like your processing a lot though you do have a bit of a halo around the white house. A minor nit about an otherwise excellent image. |
