11 Nov 25 Reply I agree, Murphy. We see that in our own club. Our judges and commentators evaluate submitted images on their own devices and when we all see the images in our monthly meeting, the commentators' comments are occasionally completely off the mark. It's a challenge. Nov 16th
11 Nov 25 Reply Thanks, Peter. If I crop up from the bottom, the water will have a place to go, so I'll take that another vote for cropping. Not sure where you're seeing a brown tone as I processed it as a neutral graytone. That might be your monitor. Nov 8th
11 Nov 25 Reply Thanks, Ed. You (and Murphy) are probably right about the foreground. I also agree with everyone about the twig. Nov 8th
11 Nov 25 Reply Thanks, Murphy. I appreciate your thoughtful comments. Nov 8th
11 Nov 25 Reply Thanks, Charles. I went back and forth about that branch as it kind of appealed to me at the time. I'm think I'm in a minority of one and should rethink that. Nov 8th
11 Nov 25 Comment Hi Charles,
I really like this. As the others have mentioned, the angle of view works well here. Your skillful processing is exactly right for the scene. Well done!

11 Nov 25 Comment Hi Nenette, I can't add anything to the comments already made. This is a marvelous portrait, well timed and beautifully processed. Nov 8th
11 Nov 25 Comment My wife and I got the chance to spend a couple of days there two years ago. The opportunities for B&W photography are endless. The starkness of this image is absolutely wonderful. I especially like how the white sand interacts with the overcast sky as a backdrop for these two yuccas. Nov 8th
11 Nov 25 Comment Murphy,
I like the composition and the processing as is.
Sorry you didn't get a second chance but hopefully it got into the hands of someone who could give it the love and restoration it deserves.

11 Nov 25 Comment Peter,
Spiral staircases make for such compelling images and this is an excellent example of why. I love the angle from which you made this creating a classic golden mean type composition. The processing is exactly right and I really like that you allowed the top of the staircase to blow out - it creates a sense of the staircase going up to eternity. I hope you get a chance to print this.

11 Nov 25 Comment Hi Ed,
My first reaction was a feeling of being overwhelmed by the busyness of the scene. I then started paying attention to the details of the image and finding all kinds of interesting interactions among the subjects. I like it far more than I expected to and that, for me at least, makes for a successful photo.

66 Nov 25 Comment Not much I can add to what the others have said, Steve. Wonderful composition. Bruges is on my list of places to return to. Nov 20th
66 Nov 25 Comment Emil,
Wonderful composition. I do agree about brightening the swan. Otherwise I like it a lot.

66 Nov 25 Comment Hi Charles,
The location and composition with the rider is spot on here.
My own aesthetic is more along the lines of what Emil did, but I also really like the delicacy of your approach.

66 Nov 25 Reply Thanks, Melanie. Nov 19th
66 Nov 25 Reply Thanks, Emil. I've managed to find all kinds of interesting patterns doing this, but this particular image is unique. Nov 19th
66 Nov 25 Reply Thanks, Arik. I've managed to stave off the temptation to get into drones, but I can see the appeal. At least there's no park service around to prohibit these kinds of shots. Nov 19th
66 Nov 25 Reply Hi Charles,
I doubt the window was terribly clean, but I pretty much shoot wide open which blurs out any debris clinging to it. That, combined with IR's innate ability to cut through makes this kind of shooting very satisfying.

66 Nov 25 Reply Thanks, Jack. Nov 19th
66 Nov 25 Comment Hi Jack,
I like your version and I like Palli's version (Hi Palli!) though I think I'd settle on something in between. More contrast and a vignette would do wonders to an already wonderful image.

66 Nov 25 Comment Arik,
The composition is excellent; the clouds are beautifully processed. I might have brought down the whites in the fields a bit, but I do like the contrast with the bison. I also like the darker foreground grass as a framing element. I, too, would love to know where this is.

66 Nov 25 Comment You caught an interesting moment, Melanie. There's nothing about this photo that screams IR, but I'm guessing the converted sensor was able to capture more dynamic range in the interior than a conventional one would. Your processing was right on the money for this subject. Well done! Nov 4th
