Thanks, Sheldon. I was able to line things up pretty well, but Lightroom's Upright feature was helpful in dialing it in. I'll take another look at the faces. |

Thanks, Ed. The contrast between old and new is what drew me to the scene. I appreciate your comment about my processing. |

Hi Murphy,
Thanks for your comments. I'll have to think about the idea of a border on the image. I tend to dislike borders as a rule, but I do see your point about separation. |

This is very good, Peter. My wife and I did a river cruise through Germany a few years ago (Rhine and Main, then a series of canals connecting to the Danube) and saw many buildings like these. It was telling that one of the first things they told us about each town we visited was how much was destroyed in WW2.
Anyway, your angle of view was well chosen. Your geometric correction was also a good choice though it would have been nice if you'd been able to preserve more of the foreground. The BW processing is superb. |

Beautiful, Nenette! Very sharp and the tonality is right on the money. It's been a long time since I've visited St Peters and have found the sheer scale of the place to be astonishing. Your photo conveys some of that. |

Beautifully processed, Sheldon. You did a masterful job of recovering those shadows. Sony's sensors are remarkable for amount of dynamic range that can be recovered but the newer AI tools really help as well.
My one question is whether the left wall of the arch is really angled that way or if that's a trick of the lens. If it's a true vertical in real life you might want to try a tool like Lightroom's Upright tool to straighten it. I made a quick attempt with the jpg and was able to fix the angle. I did have to use content aware fill to fill in the gaps created but I thought it came put pretty well. |

Murphy,
Wonderful image. It's always nice to see a barn nestled among the trees instead of vast fields. Your composition is spot on and the processing is excellent. I like the BW version much more than the color. |

Welcome Ed!
I really like what you've done with a scene most of us would either pass on or step on without a thought of the artistic possibilities. Beautifully processed as well.
One suggestion: consider a square crop that leaves out that one dark leaf on the right. As it stands, I find that it distracts from the main composition. Here's an example of what I'm thinking of. |

Steve,
Nicely seen and I like where you're trying to go with the processing. One thing you might consider is cropping down from the top which would make the sky less prominent. The boat is the hero of the shot and should get most of the attention.
I find the Lightroom "Landscape" masking option does a pretty good job of isolating the different elements of a shot. I tried it with the jpg and was able to limit my processing to just the foliage. |

Emil,
Wonderful image. Your composition is spot on. Cleanup and other processing is appropriate for the overall image. I'm particularly struck by well you handled the reflection. |

Nicely done, Gary. I love the bridge, water and trees. The sky feels a bit overly contrasty for my taste but I know we have different opinions about such things. This would print beautifully. |

Beautifully composed, Charles. I concur with Gary that it seems to be slightly tilted to the left. His version fixes that though I'm not sure I'd go quite as far with contrast. I like what you did the foreground grass. |

Quite a delightful image, Melanie. I like the interaction with the two pickers with the camera as well as how nicely composed the overall image is. |

Thanks, Charles. I did do a number of conventional color images as well, but you are right about the harsh light. IR really came through here. |
