A very poignant depiction of a somber place. I love the sheer simplicity of this image. What makes it work so well is the lone person. Well done. |

Hi Murphy,
Again, sorry for the late comment.
I love finding images in scenes like this. Well seen and processed. Eliminating most of the background was a good choice and really concentrates the eye toward the main subject. No suggestions. |

Peter,
Sorry for the late comment.
This is a great example of why we need to look in every direction when out photographing. This is beautifully rendered with excellent attention to tonality. Everything is spot on. I agree that it would have been nice to have included the entire structure, but your crop works very well here. |

Nenette,
Sorry to be so late with my comment this month. It's been a hectic time.
I really like this. The eye contact you got with the subject is what makes this work so well. Well spotted and photographed! |

Thanks, Sheldon. Escher is who came to my mind when I saw it. Yes, they did have a few elevators but they were slow so we used the stairs when we didn't have luggage to haul. |

Charles,
Thanks for your comments. Believe me, I detest those things and the damage they do to the landscape (not to mention birds). The people who really hate them are the locals. When we drove around their last year, there were "no wind turbine" signs up everywhere.
Anyway, I thought about removing them, but decided that they did work in this particular image. Usually, I just don't point my camera in that direction, but exceptions were made. |

Thanks, Gary. You are right about the horizon. I just didn't see it at first. |

Thanks for the thoughtful reply, Steve. I agree with you (and Gary) about the tilted composition. One of those "miss the forest for the trees" kinds of things! I'll have to think about the grain elevator and what sort of story I'm trying to tell here. |

Wow, this is really distinctive, Steve. Well seen and processed. It took me a minute to really figure out what I was looking at and I love it! No suggestions.
It's fun trying different kinds of subjects in IR to see what works and what doesn't. All kinds of happy surprises can happen. |

I love ferns in IR, Emil, and I really like this. I agree with Jack about lightening them up just a bit, but the composition works well here. |

I was prepared to hate this, Gary, but you won me over. Your geometry and processing work is spot on for the subject. This would print nicely on watercolor style paper. |

I had the opportunity to do some IR work in China 12 years ago and came across similar bridges. Their parks can be quite compelling.
It's a terrific scene, but I agree that it needs something else. I find Gary's approach too aggressive but maybe selectively darken the scene along the left side of the bridge to even out the light just a bit. I agree with Steve that the color version might be worth a look. |

Jack,
Compositionally, I like it as is. I played with flipping it horizontally but didn't care for the change. I agree with Arik about upping the contrast but other than that, I like it a lot. |

Ivy league indeed, Arik. Around here there's been a concerted effort to remove that stuff from public buildings. I understand why, but I do love seeing it in IR.
Wonderful composition and processing. I love how the pathway is lined up so nicely with the doorway. |

Lovely scene, Melanie. Great subject for IR. Your processing is spot on.
Not sure if I agree with your crop, however. I think I'd prefer to see more of the driveway and that large palm on the right. I like the house, but I'm not sure it needs to be so large in the frame. |
