Sheldon,
As with Peter's image this month, you found a wonderful spontaneous portrait and caught the subjects in an unguarded moment. Well done! |

Wonderful example of street photography, Peter. The subjects, the matching canes, the expressions all come together for a "decisive moment". No suggestions, it's spot on as it is! |

Sheldon,
I appreciate your suggestion. I will definitely try cropping it accordingly.
As to IR camera conversion, some people do IR with a screw-on IR filter such as the Hoya R72. You can get great results but be aware that it will act as a really strong ND filter requiring long exposures. I have had many cameras converted over the years and have settled on doing what is called a "full-spectrum" conversion which removes the IR blocking filter that sits over the sensor and replaces it with clear glass. I can then adjust the strength of the effect with different IR filters. I can also use a "hot mirror" filter which more of less restores the camera to normal color. This was shot with a 72nm filter. |

Thanks everyone. I do agree about bringing out clarity more. I tend to avoid that slider but it can be effective when used selectively. |

Thanks, Charles. The vertical rock on the left side is actually part of that rock formation so I didn't worry too much about separation. I do see your point, however. It would probably be done best with lights and darks. |

Steve,
Terrific scene! Probably the most unique portrait these performers have ever had done of them. It's interesting that your camera allowed the black costumes to remain black which makes for an interesting contrast with the onlookers. |

Emil,
Love the simplicity and tranquility of this. I concur about the bit of grass in the upper left, but otherwise like it as is. |

Eh. Not what I'm in this group for, but it is interesting to see what can be done with these tools. |

I don't really have anything more to add. Well done! It makes me want to go back and look at my own IR images from our 2013 trip to China and the Wall. |

Arik,
This is the kind of image that brought me into IR in the first place. Wonderful processing with dark sky, white foliage, and a well-textured trunk. Well done once again! |

Melanie,
I do love palm trees in IR and having one with a strong shadow is icing on the cake. As with several of the others, I'd have probably left the right palm in place but could see going either way. I actually kind of enjoy shooting bystanders in IR so I would have left a few in the scene, especially those taking pictures. Those are my biases, however, and I have to say that your resulting image is excellent. |
