Nenette,
I agree with Murphy's comments. This is wonderful. My only (possible) suggestion would be to consider cropping downward a bit to preserve more of the reflection. |

Sheldon,
I'm drawn to empty park benches and photograph them a lot. I really like this . The corner composition works well and your black and white processing is very good. My only suggestion would be to remove the twigs at the bottom of the frame. They add to the forlorn nature of the scene, but they also draw my eye away from the main subjects - those benches. |

Lovely image, Murphy. I really like grouping of the teasels and the panoramic crop. Nicely processed as well. |

Peter,
Your color version is a nice travel photo. Your monochrome image takes that up a level. The image is well-composed and processed. My only very minor thought is that I wish you'd waited a couple of seconds later to allow the boat to be more centered under the bridge. Otherwise, it's spot on. |

By the way, my go-to lens for the A6500 is that same 18-135 lens you're using. My full-frame choice is the 24-70 f/2.8 GM2. I've also had good luck with the Tamron 28-200. No hot spots, but it's a little soft in the corners.
Contrary to popular sentiment, you can get reasonable color out of the 720 filter. Not as much as the 590, but still not too bad. |

Thanks Gary. We were there as part of a photo workshop and the leaders thought we should all stop for a few minutes just to say we were there. It was worth the time I think.
I think you're right about the pano crop. I find I reach for 16x9 more and more these days. |

Thanks, Emil. I went back and watched a YouTube clip of that scene and was struck by both the similarities and differences 30 years can make. I was also shocked it has been that long since the movie came out. |

Steve,
Let me also welcome you to this dynamic group that will definitely keep you on your toes! Your image is beautifully composed but I do like your reworked version over the original. I'd say you're off to a great start.
As to gear, I envy you your A7CR for portability. My main IR shooter these days is an A7R IV which I love, but it's too much to lug along on overseas trips. For that, I have an A6500 which does a great job, but I do miss the larger sensor. Both cameras are full-spectrum but I find I use the 720 filters 90% of the time. I really like Kolari Vision's drop-in clip filters, by the way. |

It makes a lovely monochrome, Emil, but I think there's life to be had from the color version. I pulled it into Photoshop and did a bit hue/saturation adjusting along with some dodging and burning to see at least one possible alternative. |

I love this, Gary. It's a beautiful building that really benefits from IR. My only suggestion is to undo the straightening. The keystoning on the left gives me the impression of the building leaning to the right. The counterbalancing angle in the original feels more natural to my eye, but that could just be me. |

Nicely done, Charles. I seldom think about IR portraiture and see I need to do something about that. I love the processing, but agree with Gary about the plant on the left. I would also eliminate the vertical bar in the lower right. |

Jack,
One of my favorite locations for IR! Very well composed. I have no issue with the partial track and have made similar images over the years (love that whole network of narrow-gauge rails). My only suggestion would be to bring out the shadows a bit on the barn, but that's a nit. |

Terrific subject, wonderful composition, and well-processed. I, too, love compositions with bicycles. This bike was perfectly placed in relation to the door and foliage.

Lovely shot, Melanie. Your processing brought out the foliage nicely and I really like the peekaboo scene through the arch. I agree about removing the left-most boat, but otherwise wouldn't change a thing. |

Thanks, Jack. I tend to agree, though we did some pretty nice close-up work when working during midday. |
