11 Jan 24 Reply Thanks, Jim. I didn't consider doing a sky replacement at the time, partly because I wanted to see what people thought of the picture as is. I'm definitely planning on doing it before using this image in club competition. Jan 27th
11 Jan 24 Reply Thanks, John. I appreciate your suggestion. Jan 26th
11 Jan 24 Reply Thanks for your thoughts, Christian. I did try some different techniques. Took me a minute to realize that NSE was probably Nik Silver Efex - hadn't seen that acronym before. I've been moving away from Silver Efex for most of my B&W work as I prefer to start with the Lightroom B&W profiles and work the color sliders. I did try Detail Extractor in Color Efex Pro but I wasn't as happy with the results as I've been with other images. Jan 16th
11 Jan 24 Reply Thanks, Jim. I played with the sky quite a bit but I think I like your treatment better. I do prefer my crop, however. I like the fence running along the bottom of the frame. Jan 6th

66 Jan 24 Reply I appreciate that, Melanie. Jan 6th
66 Jan 24 Reply Thanks, Emil. Jan 6th
66 Jan 24 Comment Jack,
I really like this image. I agree with the others about that little cloud being a distraction, but otherwise, it's spot-on in my opinion.

66 Jan 24 Reply Thanks, Palli. I appreciate your comments and I like your BW version. I certainly tried a BW version of my own but kept coming back to the color one. As I said to Jack, I liked how the wood came out in my color rendition. Jan 3rd
66 Jan 24 Reply Hi Jack, Thanks for your thoughts. Space was limited inside that cabin and this the composition that worked best in my mind. As to how I processed this, you're right. It is similar to a color version but I really liked what the IR was doing with the wood. I'm including a color images I took at the same time. I just swapped out the cameras on the tripod. I like it as well, but the wood isn't as interesting to me. Jan 3rd
66 Jan 24 Reply Thanks, Gary. Indeed! Jan 1st
66 Jan 24 Reply Thanks, Arik. I appreciate your thoughts. Detail Extractor is a blunt instrument at times, but I liked what it did for me here. Jan 1st
66 Jan 24 Comment Emil, I like this a lot. The blue tone gives me the shivers which is what a scene like this should do. Jan 1st
66 Jan 24 Comment Palli, IR really works well with these sand sculpture images. Great detail and texture. Jan 1st
66 Jan 24 Comment Gary, I think you succeeded in what you were trying to accomplish and it works well. Jan 1st
66 Jan 24 Comment Love the clouds and the overall composition, Charles. I do like your panoramic crop, but the horizon line feels tilted to the left quite a bit while the original feels tilted slightly to the right. I would also suggest darkening the sky between the clouds a bit to minimize fringing. Jan 1st
66 Jan 24 Comment Nice scene. The tree makes a great framing device. I had the same thought as Gary about the dog's legs. Frankly, I like the empty picnic table as it tells a story all its own. Jan 1st
66 Jan 24 Comment Melanie,
Lovely shot, extremely well composed. There's little about it that is uniquely infrared, but that's OK.
