Thanks, Darlene. The original is a bit underexposed which adds to the sense of softness. Fortunately, the raw file had a lot of exposure latitude that I was able to work with. |

Thanks, Christian. I appreciate your thoughts. Your crop works well and I do like panos for scenes like this. |

I like this a lot, Jim. I especially like the two narrow strips of wall on either side of the image. They make a nice framing device. |

Thanks, Jim. I think that's why this scene appealed to me, especially after I cloned out a few headlights <g>. |

Nice! You gave a fairly blase scene ominous overtones in your processing. Instead of a "just another quaint French building", you ended up with a vaguely menacing place. |

Excellent! I like the lone person as the one organic element of an otherwise geometric scene. You might consider removing the foreground paving stones by cropping in just above the horizontal line. You could also crop in a bit from the right closer to the first vertical line. |

Very dramatic portrait. Your processing really works well here. I appreciate that you touched up the skin without turning it into plastic. No suggestions. |

It looks like the color and monochrome versions got reversed here. What a great subject for B&W! Compositionally it works well and the processing is excellent. I hope you get a chance to post a version with the doors in color in the comments. I don't normally love selective color but that sounds like it would work well. |

Wow. This is an amazing image. High key and monochrome give it a graphical, almost ethereal feel. Well done! |

Darlene,
This is wonderful! I like your cropping choice a lot and find your processing to be spot-on for the scene. |

Personally, Emil, I like your version more than the suggested renderings. I think it's a perfect balance compositionally as well as contrast.
I have a stack of IR images from our own trip there a couple of years ago and you are inspiring me to go back and take another look. |

I concur with everyone else. Great rendering of this image. I think IR really helps with bringing out the tones. |

I also had to miss Arik's Zoom session and hope there will be another one this month. I'm very interested in exploring the possibilities.
It's a nice image, but it does bother me that only about a third of it is from the original. As such, it's hard for me to comment on the specific elements. |

Really nice image, Charles. I agree with Arik about the sky. I like that cloud in the upper left corner and would avoid cropping it if possible. |

Excellent composition and I agree that any foreground softness is a non-issue. I did find the darks a bit too oppressive for my taste but as Melanie says, it's a personal choice. All in all, a great image. |

I really like this image. Grumpy or not, the main subject is beautifully rendered. Like Gary, I'm more of a pure B&W guy, but I do like indulging in color IR once in a while and I think you chose well with this particular image.
Perhaps it's just me, but I actually kind of like the image with the woman in it. It adds an interesting balance between age and youth, looking forward and looking backward, standing and sitting, etc. Just a thought. |

Once again, I'm late to the party but I agree with everyone about how powerful this image is. I also like what Gary did with the eyes. I do like his crop but it would be very sad to lose the shadow of the hand so I think I would probably crop in less aggressively. |
