I like this a lot. While I'm no expert about grain elevators, I do find them to be interesting structures with lots of interesting details. This particular structure is unlike any I've ever seen before and I really like the juxtaposition of the quonset building with the rectangular tower. The round silo is a nice support. Your BW processing does a nice job of bringing out the textures of the different elements of the image (dirt, rocks, structures, sky) creating a study of contrast. My only suggestion would be to lighten the silo a bit as it tends to merge with the trees. |

Yeah, that's what I remembered about it. I'll consider looking for something for next month. |

Yes. My wife and I made the pilgrimage to Old Car City a few years ago. We had a great deal of fun there, but there's something like the desert location that makes this place special. By the way, if anyone plans to visit the Palouse in Washington State in the future, make a side trip to Sprague, WA and find Dave's Old Truck Rescue. It's a terrific collection of old decrepit trucks in a dying little town. I've sold a number of prints taken of those old trucks. Great stuff. |

Thanks, Emil. Old Car City is a pretty amazing place in its own right. I'll have to go back and look at some of my IR images from when we visited five or six years ago. |

Thanks, Gary. I was too lazy to look up the spelling of Techatticup!
You're is a bit too dark for my taste, but I like what you did with Detail Extractor. I tried my hand at it myself but didn't come up with anything I liked. Any chance you could send along your exact slider settings? I'd love to see more exactly how you got there. |

I really like this. My wife and I spent the better part of a week in Badlands in May of 2021. The place is a wonderland of landscapes and wildlife and a photographer's dream.
I took quite a few IR images, but have to admit that I've haven't done much with them. I'm going to have to go back and take another look.
This is beautifully composed - you put the spire in exactly the right place in the frame and I like the leading line of the trail in the foreground. The layers in the sky nicely echo the geological layers as well as the grasses. This would make a terrific print (perhaps canvas to echo the textures?). |

I'm with Gary on this one. His tighter crop gives my eyes something to rest on and it really pulls out the lovely textures of the grasses. |

First of all, I love the subject and the way you processed it. I'm ambivalent about the toning, but it's fine. I am, however, thoroughly in the "no frame" camp. To me, it feels cramped especially combined with the aggressive vignetting. |

My thoughts are similar to the others. Great composition and excellent subject for IR, but the blues overwhelm the image. A black and white treatment would really work well here. |

Excellent image that really pulls the eye through from front to back. About the only thing I'd suggest is cloning out the remainder of the tree in the upper left. It doesn't really support the image and, as you say, it's soft. |

Your crop is spot on. I love square images and it really works well in putting the house front and center. I agree with the others about the toning and actually prefer the original in that regard. I suggest using a hue/saturation layer to mostly desaturate the blues and cyans. |

I agree with others. I really like where you're going with this. This is a wonderful contrasty image of the tree, but I'd like to see more texture in the sand and the elimination of the triangle in the upper left. |
