11 Aug 22 Reply I find that IR cuts through fog/mist/haze to some degree revealing stuff a conventional camera can't see. It's an effect well worth exploring. Aug 22nd
11 Aug 22 Comment IR yields fascinating results in foggy conditions as your image shows. Great job with both the composition and processing. The Topaz tools are terrific. Aug 7th
11 Aug 22 Comment I love scenes like this in IR. Nicely composed and processed. Aug 7th
11 Aug 22 Comment Well done, Henry! Great scene made special by your processing. Including the entire loop at the bottom was an especially nice touch. If there's any one thing I'd suggest, it would be to clone out what's left of the tree along the left edge. Aug 7th
11 Aug 22 Comment I like this a lot, especially the way the clouds come down right at the peak creating something like an "X". Aug 7th
11 Aug 22 Comment This is wonderful, Peter. I love the play of light on the water and the texture of the clouds, but I'm especially drawn to the silhouettes of the people. Aug 7th
11 Aug 22 Comment Great subject for black and white. I'm really drawn to the saw cuts as they turn this way and that. I did think it would benefit from a tighter crop and a bit of dodging and burning. I personally found the grass competing with the logs for attention and wanted less emphasis on that part of the frame. See what you think of my version. Aug 7th

66 Aug 22 Reply Thanks, Charles. We've got a display of Ansel Adams' "master works" running in Seattle at the moment. Very inspiring work. Aug 8th
66 Aug 22 Reply Thanks, Emil. Very dramatic effect. I'll keep that in mind as I continue to work through the series. Aug 8th
66 Aug 22 Reply Thanks, Palli. It was a wonderful day. We're planning on visiting the back side of the mountain in another week or so. Maybe I'll have a follow-up, conditions permitting. Aug 8th
66 Aug 22 Reply Thanks, Jack. I shot a lot of details in the mountain as well, but felt that the grand landscape was the way to go here. Aug 2nd
66 Aug 22 Reply Thanks, Gary. I appreciate your interesting interpretation. Actually, what I saw when we were there was the opposite. We were marveling at all the new life that was springing up everywhere. Far from a hellscape, it was like a newly planted garden. Aug 2nd
66 Aug 22 Reply Thanks, Melanie. Aug 2nd
66 Aug 22 Comment This is amazing. I'm not sure I would have figured out what it was without your explanation. I agree with the others' suggestions and Gary's edit. This would make a very compelling print. Aug 2nd
66 Aug 22 Comment Well seen, Palli. I love cloud formations in IR and you've captured something really special here. Aug 2nd
66 Aug 22 Comment I love this and images like this. The desert and IR are made for each other. I agree with your decision to replace the sky, something I do quite a lot these days, especially with Photoshop's sky replacement tool. I do think it would benefit from a somewhat tighter crop which I've done in my version. I also used Topaz DeNoise AI to clean up the sky just above the horizon. Aug 2nd
66 Aug 22 Comment I love this composition. The track through the trees leading to the tram works really well. I'm not generally a fan of selective color, but I can see the merits of the technique in this image. I played with it a bit. First of all, it felt like it was tilted just a bit to the left so I tilted to the right a small amount to compensate for the lean. I also selected the tram and muted the color for a more subtle effect. I also darkened the area around the tram to make it stand out a bit more. Aug 2nd
66 Aug 22 Comment Nice composition. I could go either way with the crop. I also like what Gary did with the grasses. Aug 2nd
66 Aug 22 Comment Wow. The intensity of the main subject contrasted with the white-ish foliage, especially the ferns combine to create a very compelling image. Aug 2nd
66 Aug 22 Comment Beautiful scene, well handled. I tend toward neutral colors in my own BW work, but I think your toning works well here. Aug 2nd
66 Aug 22 Reply Thanks, Arik. Sounds like a terrific road trip. Aug 2nd
