I've had the chance to visit this amazing park several times and this is one of my favorite viewpoints. This image really captures the "smoky-ness" of the Smokies while retaining detail in the shadows. My only concern is that the sky seems a bit noisy on my screen. Perhaps some selective blur might be in order. |

I concur with Allen's comments, especially about your shutter speed. Good sense of movement without being surreal. I also agree about the sky, though I think would have either retained the treetops or cropped more radically into the trees. Where you chose to crop at the top feels a bit awkward to me. Really strong image otherwise. |

Great subject and angle, though I do agree with Jim and Allen about the contrast and including the water. |

One of my favorite subjects. I don't think to shoot these in monochrome, but I can see that I'm going to have change that. Very nice. I think I lean more toward Jim's more contrasty version as it really brings out the veins though I would tone it down a bit in the edges of the petals. |

I thought about removing it, but decided that only including some of it turned it into symbols. I cut it off in the original photo. Should I clone it out altogether? |

Thanks, Jim. I debated about the words but decided that I liked their location plus reinforces that this is a place other than my home.
By the way, the sign is for a gift shop and the words translate as "The Open Workshop". |

Hi Gary. Thanks for your kind welcome and your feedback on my photo. I like your crop.
Most of my IR work is monochromatic, so it's always a bit of a stretch for me to work in color. |

Emil - I also love old wood barns and quietly sigh when I see yet another one fall down. This is a wonderful composition and a great subject for infrared. Thinking through Palli's and Arik's suggestions, I took it and applied some high pass sharpening to the structures, leaving the foliage and sky alone. I darkened the edges and lightened the silo and hay bale. |

This is wonderful, Palli. I love how the abstraction of the water creates an almost haunting portrait of the little girl. Normally I don't like such heavy vignetting, but it's just right in this image. |

Gary - Terrific subject beautifully rendered in B&W IR. Love the white trees and dramatic sky. My only thought is that your perspective correction made the overall composition a bit too "squat" compared to the original. I went into free transform and squished it a bit. I think it makes the tower soar more like it does in the original. Just a thought. |

Charles - There's something about an empty park bench that really speaks to me for some reason. I've taken hundreds (thousands?) of images of them over the years. This is really nicely done. I like where you placed the bench in the composition and I really like your subtle color processing. No suggestions. |

Another great road picture! I love the sky and the distant subject. Since you are so close to having a centered composition, I'd suggest going all the way and cropping in from the left edge and putting the road's center line in the center. I agree with Arik's point about darkening the foreground, but would apply it more to the fields to either side of the road and leave the road a bit brighter. |

Arik - Lovely image from an unlikely subject. I love the stark contrast between house and sky as well as the intersecting lines in the structure. No suggestion. |

Melanie - Great subject! I love using roads and paths as leading lines and like what you did here with yours. I do have to agree with Arik that those wonderful clouds are too crunchy. I also find them too dark. Masking out the sky and processing it separately would also add some separation between land and sky. |
