11 Oct 21 Reply Thanks for the kind words, Lance. I will take another look in light of your suggestion about the rocks. Oct 12th
11 Oct 21 Comment Nice subject, Jim. I love IR for monochrome and it worked well here. I agree with Jim about the too-tight composition, but I understand your limitations. I've been trying to remember to make 2-3 image panos when I'm dealing with situations like this, especially with my IR camera. It's helped quite a bit. Oct 11th
11 Oct 21 Comment Terrific subject. I think I agree with Stephan about preserving the original composition. I took it into ACR and used the geometry tools to fix the the keystoning effect. I like the way the dock and the building on the left frames the boat and water. The steps don't bother me as much. Oct 11th
11 Oct 21 Comment Nicely seen. I'm always drawn to "what is it?" type images where I have to drop any assumptions about what the thing is that I'm looking at. I think your image is successful to a large degree. I don't know if the out of camera original was more loosely cropped, but I do wish the top of the shadow wasn't so close to the edge. I also would have preferred that the bricks were either parallel to the top and bottom edges or at a more pronounced angle. Oct 11th
11 Oct 21 Comment Great subject for black and white. Lots of interesting texture between the rocks, the buildings, and the sky. I do feel like the wonderful light splashing on the monastery loses something in your processing. You might want to consider dodging a bit just below the monastery on the left. Oct 11th
11 Oct 21 Comment I like original 2 as a terrific documentary photo of the experience. I like your monochromatic treatment as fine art (if that's not too pretentious to say). It has a lot more depth and detail when you take away the distraction of color. I do agree with Henry's darkening of the upper wall area. Oct 11th

91 Oct 21 Reply Thanks, Chuck. So it would seem. Oct 23rd
91 Oct 21 Comment This is outstanding, Chuck. I love the simplicity of the composition and the stark contrast between the white flowers and the dark background. I suspect IR made accentuated the white in the flowers. Oct 13th
