Silver Efex Pro can be a blunt instrument on some images. I think the bird's body is a good example of that.
As an alternative approach, I took your color version into Photoshop and applied a black and white adjustment layer. I merged the layers and duplicated the merged layer. I used "select subject" to select the bird, and added a layer mask. I then added a blank layer between the two layers and filled it with black. I reduced to the opacity to around 50%. Finally I dodged and burned the bird a bit and added a final vignette. |

I love images like this. What a great study of diagonals. Processing, crop, and flip are spot-on. No suggestions. |

I like your out-of-camera jpg quite a bit. Your crop and straightened are just right to my eye. I have to disagree with Jim's take. I like the juxtaposition of the upright windmill, the angled board, and the round wheel. A good study of lines and curves in my mind.
My wife shoots Olympus and I've been quite impressed with what she's been able to do in-camera with it.
A Zoom meeting would be fun. I wonder if any of the other groups have tried it. |

I liked Jim's suggestion to consistently blur the background but I also liked the black and white rendering, so I took Jim's version in Photoshop. I cropped it in even more, then applied a B&W adjustment layer. I then upped the contrast with a curves layer. I then merged the layers and applied a bit of dehaze in the Camera Raw filter. |

Thanks for the comments, all. I went back and took a closer look at the tulip arrangement. I went the opposite way from Judy and darkened the leaves and lightened the tulip petals. It's a subtle change, but I think I like it. I definitely needed to have spent more time with this image and I appreciate the encouragement. |

Orchids can make great IR subject, but as you show, they can also be challenging. I like your second version quite a bit, though I think I'd brighten up the petals a bit to minimize the spots. |

I love plants like this in IR, especially good black and white IR. Excellent crop and processing. |

I can't add much to the comments already made. I think on the balance I prefer your flip to Chan's but could go either way. I do think you have some more photographical possibilities in this frame, especially that tree to the center-right.
I won't try to duplicate your excellent processing, but I'll include an alternative crop from your original. |

Nice composition and color. Good processing. I like Judy's crop, though I think I prefer the lighter foreground. |
