Thanks for the kind words, Sharron. The PSA had a very interesting webinar recently on that very topic. Wabi-Sabi with Lisa Cuchara. I agree very much that there is much beauty in decay.
In this case, however, that was actually a healthy tulip in the prime of bloom. It's a Dutch variety my wife discovered when we were in the Netherlands two years ago. It makes for a great contrast alongside more structured tulips that were growing nearby. |

I love ferns in black and white and this is no exception. Nice sharp image. I agree with Allen's crop and did a similar square crop on my version. I also brightened the ferns and darkened the background. |

This is terrific, Sharron. It did indeed bring a smile to my face. I have no suggestions. |

I like this a lot. I agree with Allen that a print of this would be an eyecatcher. I don't agree with lightening the sky, however. In my version, I selected the wall and a applied a contrast curve, brightening the whites and darkening the blacks. I know this is heresy in some circles, but I cropped down from the top to put the upper part of the diagonal in the corner. I think it makes for a stronger graphical composition. |

Nicely framed shot, Allen. I like the way you lined up the butterfly between the uprights. I really like your crop, though I'm not as fond of the border. The only suggestion I have is to open up the shadows a bit on the body of the butterfly to allow for a bit more detail. I've done that with my version, though I'm sure you'd have more success with the original image. |
