Charlie,
The black and white version of my photo that I posted under Cindy's critique has lightening of the shadows on the peak. I think that is an improvement. Thanks for the suggestion. |

Don, please see my response to David which shows the crop. Also see response to Ray where I edited to bring out the mountains in the distance. |

Cindy, Could not really change the color impact of the green plants. They are desert plants and there is not much green to pull out. However, I did change the photo to black and white. I'm a fan of this edit. Thanks for the suggestion! |

Ray, I took your suggestion to lighten the detail in the background mountains. It was difficult to lighten the mountains and make it look realistic. It was such strong contrasty light. |

Here is the crop to get rid of the houses. It is more square. Not sure I like it better but it does focus your eye on the plants around the sides of this peak. |

The abandoned church certainly looks much better after your processing. I especially like the orange awnings over the doors. The steeple with the pattern in the wood is so interesting. I think I would make a vertical crop to get rid of as many side trees as I could and add a little sky at the top and emphasize the lines in the wood of the whole church. |

The mother and kitten make a very compelling image. The kittens eyes draw you in and the mother hovering in the background is so sweet. Plus, the striking lines give this image so much impact. The leaves in the foreground are distracting, and also the fence links and should be removed as in David's fix. |

Great job to capture the bird in the air! He has catchlights in his eye and there is nice bokeh on the background. The shutter speed was fast enough, I think, to catch him in focus but focus seems a touch out of focus. |

What a pretty scene. The flower is captured beautifully! It looks sharp and the background has nice bokeh. To bad the bee did not turn around. I think the back end of the bee looks a little out of focus to me. Plus those flowers on the bottom are cut in half. It would be good to clone them out or include the whole flower. |

I can see why you would want to photograph this tree. The lines that the branches form are not symmetrical and it keeps your eye looking. I especially like the shadow in the foreground that draws your eye into the scene and the bright orange leaves of the tree on the right complement the color of the sky. It would be even better if you could move around and get the whole tree against the blue sky without the orange tree behind. |

The busy harbor scene is filled with life and light! So picturesque. I also think the ferry is distracting since it is was moving and it is blurred. I like the idea of the crop because it brings your eye to the nice grouping of buildings that is on the right. |
