Great shot of the gull! Good focus and placement of the bird to the right as in David's crop is better. I immediately notice the bird's eye, where as before there was too much in the frame. |

Beautiful sunset image over the city and Shinano River. The main thing that draws my eye is the bridge and the colorful lines of the traffic. The composition of the bridge is excellent with the lines of the traffic drawing your eye into the city and the setting sun beyond. I would love to see the horizontal view, too. Well done! |

I think you have an interesting crop with the tractor a larger part of the picture. Thanks!

I like the crop that you made and it emphasizes the tractor. I think the building is a nice backdrop but the focus for me was the tractor. |

I took your suggestion and eliminated the tractors and the tree on the left. I cropped the original photo which had been light painted. So I raised the exposure but I toned down the highlights. I did not intend to have star trails, but longer star trails were not my goal, either. Stars were not my focus. Not sure I like the crop better. |

This image is very interesting. I could imagine it would make an excellent puzzle. The colors of the sky and buildings are bright and colorful. I like the dreamy glow. I do think that the image could use some contrast, especially in the grasses in front, but it doesn't need much. Well done! |

Very nice image of a dragonfly! The eyes and the body of the fly are so sharp. Well done to capture the dragonfly because they are so quick, you have to be patient and have a high shutter speed. I like everything about the image except I agree that I would have liked to see the whole dragonfly with full wings and some of the stick it has landed on. I would have raised the shadow adjustment in Lightroom so that the wings were luminous. |

Flowers are one of my favorite subjects. I can suggest 2 things to do with this photo. The first has to do with the rule of 3 in flower arranging or flower photography. Three blossoms or an uneven number is better than 2 or even number of blossoms of the same type. So I cropped your photo, picking out the 3 largest flowers. I rotated your image to make a triangle. The second thing to do is to make sure your focus blossoms are sharp. The large ones did not seem to be and they are the ones that will draw the eye. I used 'unsharp mask' in Photoshop to sharpen. Then I raised the contrast and vibrance of the flowers. |

The image "Spikey Leaf" has created some interest and curiosity. I read your description of how you created it and I am taking notes so that I can recreate the idea. As for the image itself, I like the lighting that accentuates the spikes and the stem. It would be good to lighten the dark side of the leaf a bit. But the image captures your attention and makes the viewer want to understand how the leaf is suspended. Well done! |
