You may well be right--I cropped the background trees out of the picture altogether and it does focus you more on the building and the pier. In terms of the time of day, I think it would have been a great shot closer to sunset, but since I was on a river cruise, I only had a couple of early afternoon hours in the stopover at Mandrogy to work with. |

I love the way the flower really fills the frame. I think I agree about the front petals being soft--can that be sharpened in post-processing somehow (that part of photography is still pretty new to me.) |

Wow--patience and being in the right place at the right time really pay off!
I wonder whether cropping some of the water/marsh grass from the top would accentuate the swans a bit more? |
