40 Oct 23 Reply Hi Janice, we had never heard of them before either. This is in a very isolated area of Australia with no one around for hundreds of miles. The shot was taken near Lake Eyre in South Australia. Australia is unique in that the vast majority of the population live within a couple of hundred miles of the coast. The inland areas do not sustain much life during the summer months. In fact parts of it are closed to people between November and March each year as the conditions are just too hot. You are correct that this fellow was a long way away. I don't intend to use this image in competition, but wanted to share this unusual duck with you. Oct 9th
40 Oct 23 Reply Thanks for your comments Ling Ling. Yes the bill of the duck is so different to anything we had ever seen before. Oct 9th
40 Oct 23 Comment Hi Henry, I love this photo. I love the misty feel and agree that Colour Efex Pro has removed that feeling. Perhaps try cloning out the offending tree on the left as it is quite prominent. The colours you have captured are lovely. Oct 9th
40 Oct 23 Comment Hi Don, Sarah Lee would be proud of your "layer upon layer" photograph. It all works so well together. My only comment would be to see what you can do with that very bright golden stripe in the fire sky. It keeps dragging the eyes there. I am not suggesting that you crop this out, but if you scroll the image to remove that part, you will see instantly that the photo changes completely. I think that fire sky needs to be there, but needs a little work. Oct 9th
40 Oct 23 Comment Hi Janice, this is a lovely photo of such an important occasion for your family. I would darken the sides to try to take the attention away from the background people and focus on the family. You did very well to get this shot without a "million" people in the background. Oct 9th
40 Oct 23 Comment Hi Ling Ling. What a lovely photograph you were able to take of the early morning. It's part of the day that most people don't get to see (me included!). The colours work well together and I think that cropping the blue top part of the sky is an interesting idea, but my vote goes to removing some of the foreground water to change the position of the horizon. 40 Oct 23 Comment Hi Catherine, I like the way you were able to add a second interest point to your Milky Way photograph. It is so important to move away from other light sources to get aa good shot of it. I do like the edits above where the boat is a bit lighter and brighter. Keep on showing us more Milky Way shots! 40 Oct 23 Comment Hi Andrew, I like your edits, but as Janice said, I did not see the engineer until I read your description. Oct 9th
