Hi Martin,
The B&W image evokes a story that could be set in the 1920s, while the colour version reminds me of the detective shows of the 1970s. A very interesting, thoughtful image with a lot of story. Well done. |

Thanks Jamie. Yes, it probably will be on the wall for a while. I too love the expression on the single bird's face. |

Hi Lin. No, I did not do anything with the colours except to dull a few highlights in the background. These little birds are about the size of a house sparrow and they don't stay in one spot for very long. |

Thanks Henry. Yes, I think that flipping the image was a good move. |

Hi Andrew, you really have brought the old machine back to life. Even the little fella seems to be interested in what is going on. |

Hi Henry, This is a lovely photograph! The colours really sing. I would desaturate the blue sky just a bit as I am finding that it keeps drawing my eyes away from the lovely Fall colours. I do like that diagonal leading line of the water. |

Hi Jamie. Ha, ha, ha. This is exactly what we did at a waterhole on our recent trip away. There were dead reeds around the edges of the water and when we threw them into the water they became "snakes"! I would crop your image to the three snakes on the left as I believe this would be a stronger image. |

Hi Lin, I love the angle that you have taken this shot from. I also like the fact that she is thinking that perhaps you are going to be her dinner! I would lighten the eyes to emphasise the stare. My crop would include both ears, but desaturate the green a bit to take out the brightness. I like your crop, but widen it a bit to include both ears. I think the grass gives some context to the image. |

Hi Catherine, I have tried this type of shot several times and not got a good result. I do like the colours in your image. I wonder if panning a little faster would blur the details a little more to make this more of a dreamy shot. |

Thanks Martin, I do value your opinions! Such fast moving little birds, I was lucky to get such a sharp image. |

Thanks Catherine, I am always amazed that these Zebra Finches have such great orange "bits" but they do seem to camouflage well into their surroundings. |

Thanks for your comments Mike. I am pleased with the outcome. My husband and friend were standing chatting when these very flighty birds landed on the stick. I picked up my camera and snapped and you can see the result. |
