I vote for the mono version. By stripping the colour away, my eye then enjoys exploring the various curves and shapes in your image. I think you could play and have fun with the orientation as others have demonstrated. |

Hi Henry, What an interesting orchid you have photographed. I wonder if dropping the highlights on the yellow would increase the textures there. I would also consider cropping it to a landscape to try to make the orchid a bit bigger. I think you have a great shot of a very interesting orchid! Covid is forcing us all to go back through our archives and I don't know about you, but I'm finding some "gems" that I had forgotten about! |

Hi Jamie, I wonder if you could look at your crop again. I'm thinking a portrait orientation may work - but keep those wonderful clouds. I feel the foreground should either be lighter or darker. At the moment, I can see some hint of bushes and that takes my interest away from the tree as I try to work out what is there. I love the clouds and the mono treatment of the image. |

Hi Anne, Firstly, I find the thick white border very distracting. Without the border, the boat becomes the feature of this image. You did well to find this boat as the over all look makes me feel as though it is a hidden gem. I think I would like to see the boat a little sharper to highlight the devastation. I feel for the boat owner! I like the way the trees in the background are treated. |

Hi Andrew, I wonder if you take the image even further and crop the building from the bottom as well as the blue sky. This would make a very interesting abstract. I find my eye keeps going to the windows at the bottom of the image, whereas I'd rather be exploring those wonderful angles. |

Thanks Beverley, I have put this image into a couple of competitions, but for some reason it does not score well. I still like it though! |
