Awesome image indeed , very apt title , peaceful .
My only thought after reading your description is "Why Shutter Priority?"
Was it your mode set to shoot birds or animals and you never changed it to other mode ? Or did you choose Shutter priority mode on purpose for this image? |

Thanks Kathleen
I used tripod , which allowed me to go slow shutter speed of 1/3s. I purposedly framed this shot in this manner , i had to move myself to get this frame. The people were peacefully having a chat oblivious to me. The kids were moving around . So I choose 1/3s ( i tried a few other slower and faster options as well) . but My choice of Shutter speed on beach is between 3s to 1/8s , as it gives a smoother touch to the flowing water along with some texture to it . Also since humans cannot stay put for long 1/3s gave me good sharpness for the human figures as well.
About the Filter :- This was my first time using this filter , I love clicking sunsets , and most of my sunsets are shot with Sony RX10M4. I have Noticed usually during sunset and post sunset i needed 3 to 5 stops of difference in exposure to get the sky /sun well exposed and also the part below the horizon to be well exposed. So i chose this filter which gave me a soft gradient but also gave me 5 stops of exposure difference . hence i could expose the clouds drama and the water /sand below well. This filter is not lens mount circular filter , but a Rectangular one which sits into an Filter mount , i can stack another 2 filters in this mount ( i purchased the mount separately). I have been using circular filters but the issue with them is we get stuck with the size of the filter and also that i cant rotate it to suit my shot . With this new accessory i can adjust my filter as per the scene .
It is expensive , but results justify the expense. ( in my opinion) :-)
I hope i have answered in totality , please feel free to ask me any more information if you need to. |

I agree with Ruth, I too am envious of such an amazing place to live in. Just awesome .
Love the pic , cant think of anything to add towards Improvment. Love the clouds reflection in water.
Also its good to see Landscape from Kathleen , as she is an avid Birder and wildlife photographer. I follow you in insta and just love your images. |

Indeed a great shot , getting the flying birds is ever so challenging , though i too would love to see a bit less contrast on this . as first look gives a feeling of over saturation |
