Hi Robin
I love shooting sea and water bodies , and its very challenging to get the perfect shot but when you do its really something extraordinary to look at .
I agree with Andrew's observation about Cropping and using the wave splash in the frame .

nice shot indeed , i have a suggestion towards your EXIF , for birding i typically use f/8 aperture thats 2 full stops higher , I observe your ISO is 125 , which you can comfortably take upto 400 ( 2 full stops higher) and had got same exposure , but your image ( bird) would have looked much sharper .
Please try the f/8 aperture next time, I usually keep my ISO on Auto for birding ,and use Av mode to shoot , so the camera maintains the aperture and automatically adjust's the ISO and shutter based on your subjects movement and available light , My other settings are Ev -0.3 or even -0.7 , Metering mode - Centre weighted.

Great story , fine shot considering you had very little time to adjust , Loved the way you have candidly captured the scene , brings out the loneliness of old age and / or peace one achieves with age .
I cant find anything to contribute towards improvement , its just perfect to me

Very nice capture of the season , thought being in western India i have never seen or experienced this season , but from movies and images i see online I can only imagine . As rightly pointed out by Ruth , little blurr would add some mystery to the image.
