I don't have the other image to compare to; but, it's more about the image, anyway. From a compositional standpoint unless there was a giant hole to the left of where you we re standing, I wonder what moving two or three paces to the left would have shown. I think the well and the corner of the roof would be eliminated. A gradiant in the sky from normal to darker would be good also. |

One of the things that separates infrared from 'traditional' photographics is that it can produce excellent images at times not suitable for other photographic methods. One of the exceptions is landscapes at near high noon. There no shadows that compliment the trees. I do like composition though because it is basically a 'golden proportion' comp and that works for me.
If you can go out at a time when the shadows are longer and do the same comp. I'm sure you'll be pleased. |

Excellent image Sharon. There's not much that I don't like about it. The curved road gives the image depth and the tones are pleasant creating an ethereal and captivating image. The ligt appears a bit flat which is not found in most IR shots; but, the warm realistic browns make up for it.
The only thing I find distracting is the curve of the large branch of the rightmost tree and it has a tendency to take me out of the image every time I look at it. Try cropping just a bit up the middle of the tree trunk. I think that would keep the eye in the image longer. |
