Thanks Dale/Chan! I like your summary/reminder - in the end what matters is the photograph. Sometimes we get too hung up on the camera/lens/settings/post-processing . . . all of which are tools to get the image! |

I'm not sure if you venture into Ps much. With the new LR features (esp masking) - I'm finding less need for Ps. One thing Ps does exceedingly well is remove objects. Its algorithms to remove objects and blend new pixels are FAR superior to LR. It's pretty straightforward and does not require layers, etc.

I agree with Lance/Jennifer . . . your original image is my least favorite. I like the first and second alternates. The winner might have been a wider shot of the first . . . great expression/tenacity - I would have loved to see more of the environment/press in the frame. Street photography is hard . . . you're inspiring me to take the train into Chicago and wander around. |

Your image is great - so much detail/wonderful tones/colors! I'm sure I'll notice an improvement moving from the iPhone X to 14. I understand your point re: "don't try to enlarge them too much" . . . but then I reflect on how often I print. Shooting with a larger camera keeps many options open. |

I agree that the original full frame conveys motion better! |

Perfect settings - nice image!
The planes are sharp and plumes of smoke create interest. Clouds in the sky would have helped - but that's not something you could control.
Your 1/2500 shutter speed helped create a sharp image and freeze the propellers. You definitely would have needed these settings for jets. With propeller planes people experiment with slower shutter speeds (fast enough to freeze the plane with panning, slow enough to capture the blurred propeller all the way around). It's a different look. Perhaps something to experiment with in the future!

I like the B&W/high key/high contrast processing; it works well. And yes - the sign makes the shot - getting lucky contributes to great photographs. I like the detail in his hands as he ties his shoe. Even the watch helps create the environment/emotion.
Where was the flash located? The light is good and appears natural.
What lens did you use?
The brick column in the middle seems a little tilted; perhaps an artifact of either the lens or your position. If makes me feel unbalanced? What do you think - is that something you would try to correct? Or is it part of the scene?

I remember Lacy's picture from December! Glad you have great neighbors who were able to help! What a nice idea to offer each a portrait - something they will keep/remember. I like the portrait - and the use of natural light! So much better than flash. The image is sharp (but not overly-so); is has a slightly softness that enhances the photograph.
The rather strong reverse vignette works; I usually prefer more subtle effects - but on this image it creates a bit of a "retro" feel . . . which enhances the portrait. I'm seeing a bright exterior ring (the vignette), a dark central ring (chair, dress, hair, plant) - and brighter center (face/arms).
I've never heard of Portrait Pro 21 - is that something you would recommend? What do you use it for? |

Great subject. Such a happy/bright/colorful image! I'm intrigued by the girl's expression. No clue what's on her mind . . . very whimsical/playful! She pops nicely against the blurred green background. If she was looking directly at you (as opposed out of the frame) - the image would be more compelling; of course you had no control over this model!
There is a long/vertical, yellow-white "thing" on the right side of the frame. What do you think that is? It doesn't extend over her costume . . so it's likely something behind her. I find it a distracting; could remove in Ps.
Might consider a tighter crop - since I'm not sure the right side adds much. |

Interesting image - especially the boy's expression! I'm unsure what it's telling us - is he scared? surprised? shy? sad/melancholy? It doesn't look happy.
I'm sure the "COOL DOG" T-shirt means something . . .
I agree with Cindy that it would have been nice to shoot this a bit wider. There are (I assume) so many interesting things out of view that would have given this image more of a sense of place.
I find that I have a tendency to try to fill the frame with my subject; now trying deliberately to back up and capture more of the environment. |

Great image - I love that you were able to capture the sun - without blowing out the highlights - well done! Whenever I shoot into the sun . . . it ends up being a white blob with no recoverable detail; your image is perfectly exposed. I like that almost everything is dark/shadows - except the water/sky/sun. But there is enough detail in the shadows/silhouettes to interest me. The mist adds interest/mystery.
I see few lens flares in the lower quarter of the frame; these could be dialed down in LR - esp if you were to print the image. |
