Kudos to you for making lemonade . . . when the weather didn't cooperate!
I looked at this image prior to reading your text - and my initial thought was some kind of street poles/wires - but then your angle didn't make sense (how did you get that high!). I also was puzzled at what kind of vine would have traveled that high.
I like the simplicity of this image . . . and the B&W fits with the cold/dormant/wintery view of the vine. Not sure how close you are to vineyards - but it would be fun to take a series of these shots from one spot as the seasons change - I'm sure the differences would be interesting/dramatic. |

Tx! I hadn't considered it - but I agree with your point that the angle creates a bit more realism . . . an objective in street photography. It's not a staged studio shot and doesn't have to be perfect. |

Nice image - kudos to you for resisting the temptation to center it!
Although I've heard that the worst weather makes for the best images - I also avoid frigid temps - instead retreating to my basement in the early morning with warm coffee and peaceful music. |

So many things lead me to the point of interest - lots of leading lines and good use of light! Perfectly exposed scene with many degrees of brightness.
In the attached - I straightened the image slightly and dialed down the brightness in few parts of the image - hopefully eliminating some distraction and increasing viewer focus on the end of the bridge.
Photographs of bridges offer many vantage points - if you were to go back there with a small tripod - it would be interesting to get a shot with the camera almost on the ground - perhaps with the lens wide open and focus on the far point. That should blur the foreground - and have gradually shaper focus as you get further out. Perhaps in 6 months when the colors are changing! Definitely a spot to return to. |

I like this image - with and without the signs! Dreamy reflections in the pond. Absent the signs would be a more natural, peaceful scene. The signs add interest/reality to an otherwise tranquil shot.
The only thing that would make it better - would be a swimmer in the background :)
I thought about trying to add one . . . but that's beyond my Ps skillset!

Great shot - I love the reflection and framing. The sheet music above creates natural border/interest without distracting. The natural light works; I doubt a flash would have improved the image.
I'm not sure if this was deliberate or not - but the sharpest focus seems to be on the reflection. I would not have thought to do that - but it works! What do you think is the "star" of the shot - the hands/keys? Or their reflection?
The left forearm is distorted; likely a combination of proximity to the camera, corner of frame and relatively wide angle lens. Not much you could have done in this shot . . .
The left forearm and fingers (on both hands) are a bit bright. I tried to dodge/burn the photo to tone these down (and the floor below the piano). You may be able to do more on the original image; the low res file uploaded didn't allow me to.
The festival sounds like a great opportunity; both to listen to music and take pictures! Hopefully it returns. |

You are lucky to have a beautiful and patient model!
I like the light/shadows - they create lots of interest. Not your usual headshot. I like your main image - it is indeed softer and works well for the portrait of a child.
Regarding the lighting - I think there are various bright spots that distract (neck area, part in her hair at the top of the frame, and hair to camera left). Although I think those need to be bright to convey directionality of the light - I think there is room to dodge/burn (attached) to tone them down and increase focus on the face/eye. What do you think? |
