Nice shot - glad you clarified that the woodpecker is holding a branch . . . my initial thought was its tongue - but the sharp angle two thirds of the way out - didn't make sense.
The orange tuft of feathers is great . . . like a natural mohawk.
How did you find the bird? Any tips? I was walking last week - heard the loud pecking of a woodpecker - on a treelined street - searched aimlessly and couldn't find it.
Keep shooting birds . . . memory is cheap and developing costs $0. I often marvel how photographers took amazing action shots in the era of film. |

Nice shot . . . the yellow color is great - very Springy! Glad to see our images warming up!
I don't know much about plants - and find it interesting that in one plant - one flower is wide open in full bloom - adjacent to closed/green buds. Perhaps a metaphor for how each individual blossoms at a different time . . .
I'm ambivalent about the bug (it both distracts and creates interest) . . . leaning to wanting to remove it; in part due to its small size in the context of the overall image. For me the story is about the beauty/detail of blossoming lilies. |

Thank you! The two pieces of paper are stapled together at the bottom edge. A black binder clip in the back holds the heart up. |

Well done - I like your effect . . . I'm always amazed that there are a dozen ways to do the same thing in Photoshop. Perhaps that contributes to both the interest and frustration. |

Interesting/creative! I also prefer the second image . . . the sharp (almost glass-like) appearance of the still ice - alongside the fast moving water. Agree the color adds interest . . . with the brown rocks and bluish ice.
I hope the ice is all melted . . . and Spring is here to stay! I put away my snow blower yesterday; hopefully not jinxing us all. My wife reminded me that in each of the last two years - we had fresh snow in late April. |

Well done . . . if you hadn't told me it was two images . . . I would have thought you were viewing an interesting plant through barren tree branches. The size/scale would have puzzled me - and why was the flower in bloom and the branches barren (except for the small white flowers - adding confusion/interest to the scene!). The texture (perhaps the oil paint filter) - would have made me realize something was manipulated. I wonder if the image would be more powerful with or without the oil paint texture?
Keep playing with Photoshop! |

Wow - this is a great image! So much going on . . . the two onlookers (one taking a picture and the other listening to something in his headphones), several people focused on prayer and one seated worshiper in the back corner holding his forehead/leaning back against the bookcase with a security camera overhead! The wall of old books is perfect and sets the tone. The B&W works well. Topaz did a great job removing the noise.
My only suggestion would be to darken the entryway (left wall/ceiling and tile floor) - to allow the light to guide you to the action. The current bright stone is a bit distracting. I tried this with a brush on the wall/ceiling and a gradient filter on the floor.
I wonder how many other unearthed gems you have in your digital archive? |
