Thank you! I've learned that food coloring is an interesting subject - esp during quarantine/winter. No sugar/grease/stains - easy to clean-up from any surface. |

Lance should respond - but I'm 90% sure the PSA site changes the word I typed into an abbreviation. Interestingly - I typed it again - and the site changed it . So I'll retype the original word with spaces between letters D e s c r i p t i o n to trick the system. Strange. |

I like what you did to it.
Regarding the elbows - I've heard two different points of view . . . . .
some say everyone knows her forearms are connected to her body - so the viewer "connects" them in their mind and "sees" the elbow even though they are not in the picture.
others would favor including the elbow in a picture like this to make the image more complete
Enjoy your grandchildren!

Very tranquil image . . . conveys slow pace and reflection. Has a painting-like quality.
The large tree in the center/background is bright and (at least on my monitor) not sharp. What was the focus point? Was there an intent to soften the appearance?
Also - my eyes keep going to that tree - because it is so bright. You could consider darkening the tree - and brightening some of the other areas. Not sure if that would look better or worse. Agree you need to keep some variation in the brightness; consistent with the appearance (shadows) of the original scene.
Really curious that Chan's painting also has a similarly positioned man/boat/net. Chance?

Well done. I'm seeing more and more effort to capture what is real - even if imperfect . . . a la Lance's tree reflection in his coffee mug.
This conveys "summer's end" (perfect title) - not in a sad way - rather that the seasons change . . . a fact of life.
Exposure/colors are perfect/realistic.
I wonder if a project for 2021 could be to capture the various stages of the lifecycle? I've observed these flowers in a neighbor's yard - it might be interesting to capture a series from fresh buds . . . to debris.

I echo the comments above. Kudos to you for venturing into the realm of portraits (humans are my least favorite subjects!). The lightness of wisps of her hair - add interest/texture.
I love her downward gaze at the donut - perfect - my eyes start with her's . . . then follow her line of sight to the donut!
I think the crop works . . . wonder if it would be better/worse if you included her elbows?
Also - the marker is part of an interesting story that you can relate to - hence it belongs and adds emotional impact. If you were going to display more broadly - I might get rid of the marker since viewers will not have context and could get distracted.
I think this would benefit from bumping up the exposure slightly - and also the contrast. As they say . . . add salt to taste :)
Great shot - keep photographing humans! |

I enjoy the feel of this image . . . simple/warm/inviting.
The B&W version is more compelling than the original.
The white vignetting works - and helps the subject/chair "pop." I wonder if the whole image could be a notch darker (similar to the brightness/contrast of the original). I think the dog's head/body is getting washed out by the white vignette. I'd also crop slightly tighter - to remove the sliver of couch on the right.
An image worth printing for family albums! |

Great to finally have evidence that your sensor is capable of capturing color images!
I agree these look animated - had the same thought of dancers. Something playful. Each has a different "expression." One looks like a fish swimming!
And the F4.5 works; all the important stuff is sharp - and the background nicely blurred. Well done.
How large are these? What are they? |

Thanks Lance - much appreciated. I'm finding that looking at other DD groups can provide fresh ideas/inspiration. I've always believed the imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. Please thank Dirk! |

Jennifer - Thank you for your comments. I never paid attention to those lines - but they appear in each glass - so they are unrelated to a specific glass/chip/imperfection. The only thing I can think of is that they are the edges of the box itself or frame of the LED light above. The image was taken inside a fotodiox studio in a box in a completely dark room (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1265079-REG/fotodiox_studio_box_led550_20x20_led_studio_in_a_box_20_x.html) - so it can't be something external (like a doorway). I'll look more carefully at this next time I open the box. For anyone interested in table top images; these boxes are inexpensive and fun to play with! |
