I really appreciated your sincere explanations Stephen and you did what a grandfather should do. Choreography is excellent and it's a clever idea to shoot pot reflecting floor pattern. I couldn't decide where the focus point should be; but the reflection on pot could be focused. Thanks for sharing. |

Hi Bill, I regret the delay in replying as I was travelling in Anatolia. We can simply say that "noise" is a visual distortion. In low-light situations, pixels have very little light and ISO is pushed. Noise looks like specks or colored pixels in photo. Higher ISO means more noise. Check your bnw sky: You can easily see that it is grainy and unclear. Are you shooting in RAW? Set always the ISO as low as possible e.g. I never exceed 1000 except night panning shots. Anyway, in your photo, problem is not ISO; but your editing style: Because color copy has no major distortion and you've boosted during editing. Haru's edit is a good example to support my explanations. |

The first thing I noticed was the noisy sky which could easily be removed. Possibly, high contrast caused. Besides, even if it's a sky-dominate shot, it would be nice if the earth was shown a bit more. Thanks for sharing Bill. |

Probably, she got angry. Because, Indians are afraid of photos as they think that you're stealing their soul. Normally I would get her permission; but this shot happened suddenly. Thanks Arne. |

There are six main religions in India and Hinduism is the major one. I've been almost everywhere in India and locals do not like to be photographed. I lived in Alor Setar, KL and Johor Bahru of Malaysia for 14 months and travelled to all Islamic countries throughout the world. I don't think, this conservatism has anything to do with religion; generally, conservative societies have their own opinion about life. Briefly, every country has "Do's and Don'ts" which we must understand and show respect. |

I spent a long time in India, a very spiritual country. Hope, you visited Varanasi and Rishikesh. I should have got her permission but I was in the car and it's not easy to communicate with the locals due to language barrier. Thanks for your comment. |

Your photo invites us to a wild serenity which I always have the same feeling in Lapland tundras. Coyote is seen well in color version; but gray tones could not provide the same sharp lines in bnw so increased contrast and strong black & white separation may give almost the similar result. Meanwhile, could you please advise us why you've chosen such high speed? And your White Balance here is AUTO that leads to blue / grey snow so you could set color temp manually at 8000k and above apart of using blue filter. Thanks for sharing. |

Great story / sharing, thanks Dick. I enjoyed your processing e.g. tonal volume, cropping, shadows, midtone contrast. I just want to ask why you chose f18 that looks a bit high. |

Hi Arne, how big is that sculpture? We already talked about different editing styles and perspectives last month and I'm happy to see that you cooperated with sculptor and continued shooting serie of exhibition. Well-done, congrats. |

Thanks for your suggestions Haru that bring main subject to the fore, whereas I wanted to show a typical day in Delhi by not removing other people and cars. Yes, I could burn the sky and ground. |

Hi Trevor, there's nothing to add more i.e. cropping lines, tonal value, contrast, sharpness are all well-balanced. Boosted sky is impressive. Meanwhile, what do you think about the balance between sky and sea? Thanks for sharing. |

Hi Haru, you did a good job, congrats. Answers to your questions are: If it was in color, I'd say "Yes, it's better to have more surroundings." so current bnw version is ok. It's not a must to shoot from front; but an angle that photographer likes. And you see plunge pool better here with all details and outlines. Thanks for sharing.
