Welcome and nice image. the foreground does not bother me. From my understanding they're are 2 ways to go about this - one is a environmental shot - one that showed the critter within there environment that they live in. You have done that and I like it. The second is a portrait shot. Not sure that it works with this image - no behavior being displayed.
The cropped image is nicer as you have moved the Ram over to the left - cool. but the crop has its issues as well, although it does look nicer - you have lost a lot of pixels, detail. |

Thank you, the Grand Canyon, for me, it is cool but not something I am rushing to go back to. Unfortunately all the road pull outs are over shot as well as the Horse Show Bend - and since the canyon is for the most part vertical a real challenge to get a photo of something unique. Anyway, the clouds were a great help for this shot. |

I was taught that having a foreground is important for landscape - gives perspective and an anchor - I agree that this foreground may not be the best, but it is what was there and gives perspective.
I probably could have repelled down and taken a shot, but park rangers might have had a fit, as well as my wife - no adventure. |

Nice looking foot bridge. I like the contrast between the bridge and the yellow and greens.
I presume the falls are on the other side of the bridge but no big deal. A lovely peaceful image. |

Great shot - colorful and the trees have so much character. I think I would have taken a set to the left to center the walkway a bit more. Did you crop the top? I would have included more of the top branch.
All those leaves and green grass just wonderful. |

What draws me into the image is the great stone steps - walkways. They are great. I converted it to B&W and it appeared flat to me and think the color shows more feeling to the image.
Good start, was there any comment as to why it did not make the cut? |

Very cool bridge and it looks like a red postbox - I like the red although I think I might have shot it a step or so to the left where the postbox was moved to the right a bit. Otherwise very cool image |

Difficult times. Sunset shot with a rainbow and you'r with your stepmom. Something to smile about as Dad is their looking down watching the two of you.
Nice rainbow shot and I like the highlight where the rainbow crossed with the cloud. |

I was looking for this image to show you. I exposed for the existing light and used a intervalometer and just taking pictures. Eventually the lighting did its thing and I got the shot. But first I exposed for the existing light |

My experience is like yours - several hours of waiting around and that is ok. Yes a intervalometer at night works best. During the day I use a lighting trigger. Suggestion is to expose for the night - maybe 20 second exposure to bring out the foreground - for you the water and let the lightning do its thing. |

Nice shot and stunning bird. Wish there was some behavior going on to separate it from any similar shots. I think if you open up the shadows a bit and bring down the highlights 2-5 points would help.
What lens did you use? Shutter speed and f-stop? |

I wish I had some information on camera, lens, tripod, shutter speed, f-stop etc.
Very nice shot I would have liked to have seen more detail in the water. How long did you hang out to get this one shot?
Yes the purple is due to the ionizing of air from the lighting - very colorful and dramatic. It looks like there is one bolt striking the water and the other (on the right) striking the land -
Anyway, very nice |

Colorful image and the contrast with the one tree interesting - stands out.
I agree why f-22? You're lens is not as sharp at f-22 and the overall image is not tack sharp. I believe we are told to stop our lenses down 2-4 maybe 5 stops for the sharpest images possible. |
