Prasad - hard not to end up with a great photo when your subject is so lovely. You did her justice with this photo. The halo like lighting behind her pops her out of the dark background...nice. Very effective. And, overall, I like the softness, but I prefer that the closest eye remain tack sharp so that she and the viewer really are looking at each other with more intensity. |

A photographer who once belonged to the photo club was well known. His name was Ollie Fife. He had a key phrase he used when he served as a critique or contest judge. "Isolate and eliminate" was the phrase. There is so much goodness in this photo, but I think it is spread out and the lighting is hard to balance across the scope of the subject. A suggestion, crop so that what is left is about the middle third and trim off the left side. See if you like the result...or not. |

Kathleen - This is wonderful. The three are looking right at you! How neat. I agree with Gregory that a softer (less harsh) background might help. I also think I detect some color shift going on and wonder if that might make this even better. |

Kathleen - this shot is a lot of fun. I agree, this is the right format. My reaction is to want to see more of the surfers. May suggestion is to crop more tightly around the group, making them 80% or more of the image. Now they are less than half. The sitting person should go because he pulled the eye away from what drew you to this capture. Great capture, just some suggestions to see if you like this even more. |
