What a scene. I love it. Some thoughts, the lack of crisp sharpness is probably the effect of shooting from a moving train. Can't help that and who wants to miss this! Seems a tad blown out at the top and wonder if some cropping might help. As always, nice work, |

You got my heartstrings. Exactly what I think this kind of "street photo" should do. I think you would up the impact (took me a minute to see the dad and me) if you cropped a bit off the bottom. And, if possible the bald sky could use clouds, color, crop, or a bit of burn in so this "bright spot" is less of a visual eye-pull. |

I love being around history and often that means ruins. You photo speaks to a setting that simply must have a wonderful story. Inside a National Geographic story this would be perfect. Everything is just right...the wall with remaining decorative pieces, the stone house, the distant hills. But, since NGS missed this (their loss), is there a way to bring some humans in...implements, people in garb that passes for "unchanged", just to round out the story of this monastery and the people and environs in which it once thrived. |

I have taken variations on this theme and always go into it seeking to tell the story of how wonderful this is. Your photo does this nicely, especially the colorful background. The light is soft and sets the scene for mystery. The chair is well placed, but I had a thought. If you added one of your hats or a personal sweater, or something that adds to the story. My thinking is that it becomes even more personal. Lovely image. |
