Robin -what a wonderful moment and portrait of this person and his dog. But the background is distracting. I like Prasad's work on this and think this really helps
"pop" your friend out of the background. In my 2020 version of photoshop you can replace the background. |

I have mixed reaction to the branch comment. I think it adds to the sense of
"capture". But, I wonder if you crop this in close so it is just the top right-hand quarter (about) so this is just the head and a bit of the branch below it...a real "looking at you, babe" take on this fine owl. |

I love subtleties of this photograph really make it, along with the very moody feel. It draws me in to look at it again and again. Very good. Just keep doing what you are doing1 |

I agree, this kind of action capture really "makes" a bird picture. I agree, a bit more sharpness would be good and maybe dodge the wing tips a bit to bring out the detail that is there. Nice photo. |

Soft background really helps you owl pop, but the one eye'd look he (she?) is giving makes the picture. |
