The Soft focus lens is really quite amazing. At f/22, a shot of a rose looks almost stacked! Anyway, at f/2.8 (which I think my photo for this month it -- maybe f/4), you really need to sharpen it with Sharpen AI (from Photoshop - make another layer, then sharpen AI, bring it back, make layer mask, blacken layer mask, then just paint in where you want it sharp), then back in LR, sharpen more with texture, clarity.) That's how I got the sharp places in my photo. |

I think the whole image is best to convey the mood you want. I love the B&W version. |

Is there any more detail in the bumper to draw out? Maybe the grass could be greener? For my taste, the insignia is too close to the edge. It would be interesting to see the original. Very interesting crop -- makes you think about the car, what makes it special. |

Great bird. Fabulously handled background. See my comments to Rick Krebs for selective sharpening. |

What I would do is clone out the upper branch & twigs entirely. The bird is well captured; the branch at his neck does not add to the image. |

I love the abstracted water. My only thought is that if you stopped down more, maybe the upper right would have been more in focus. Higher ISO to achieve that? |

To me, the one with AI Sharpen is over sharpened. What I do with AI Sharpen is take the photo to Photoshop, duplicate the photo making a new layer, go to AI Sharpen, and bring it back to PS. That way, I can control the opacity of the AI Sharpen layer, & use a layer mask if I only want certain areas to be sharpened. I love the spirit of your image. |

The main image is made with Soft Focus II optic. The other photo is the Sweet 80 optic. You get a "Composer Pro" from Lensbaby & you can change the "optics." I love the halo you can get from the Soft Focus optic. I also like the "sweet spot" in in focus area with the severe drop off of focus that the Sweet 80 (and 50) gives. |
