60 Mar 20 Comment The lady slipper is great. It's hard to shoot in direct sunlight. Maybe a diffuser? Maybe have someone cast a shadow? Frustrating when the subject is so good and the background isn't. Mar 23rd
60 Mar 20 Comment I love the image. What to have in focus is always hard. At this point (my opinion could change!) I would like more of the center of the flower in focus. Lensbaby with a stopped down focus ring? That would give you a soft edge & infocus middle. Maybe. Mar 23rd
60 Mar 20 Comment Very interesting. I'd like to see a crop with only pine cone, cropping some of he left & top. The lighting makes it more mysterious -- maybe more pine cone like would be better. Mar 23rd
60 Mar 20 Comment Great ant! For me, the area of red distracts. I think the ant is sharp enough so you could cut out at least the top of the red (you may want all of blades of grass left in; I'm not sure) & crop out most that is not green. Mar 23rd
60 Mar 20 Comment The subject is so wonderful -- the setting so wonderful. Whatever the photographic problems, it's great to have this shot. Do try higher ISO. If you have Topaz, that is supposed to be the best software for noise elimination. Black & white pts: try moving top & bottom of the tone curve (RGB) in LR. There is a much more involved (& probably better) I used to use in PS. Mar 23rd
