Hi Jan,
thank you for the suggestion. I think I will try that! That is what these groups are all about, getting some good feedback.

well done. I read today in the paper about the Russian star ballet dancer Vladimir Shklyarov died...can't stop thinking about it. |

Ok, what I did here was a quick and dirty version. I took it into Lightroom, masked the tree, and blurred the background. Then in Photoshop, I created a dodge and burn layer, used the black brush at 20% and darkened the lower part of the branches of the twisted tree. I used the remove tool to take out the newer straight trees behind the twisted one. Back to dodge and burn, I increased the size of the brush, and at 30% on white highlighted the foreground ferns. I think if you spent more time than 20 minutes on this you can get a really cool tree photo. |

Wonderful tree. I would start over with processing - maybe mask the tree and blur the background? Then work on layers of foreground and the tree to make it higher contrast. I will try to present an example.

What they said. I really like this portrait, and I think less crop than Becca; but it is always personal preference of the maker. Bali I think of as a busy place in a street market, and I like the context of the bags. Good job grabbing this from a taxi window, and amazing that his glasses are clear! |

I'm not very experienced at astrophotography, but for the uninitiated this photo is very dark. I think some post-processing to lighten it and accentuate the comet might help. You have a nice silhouette of the landscape and sunset, maybe lighten the foreground a bit and brighten the comet. |

Maybe you didn't intend this but it has a "spooky" kind of mood from the fine tree branches around the building. |

A good commentary photo. I think the title is needed, to understand that this is the after effects of a hurricane. |

OOooh. I like this! The artwork is fascinating. Adding a human figure throws it into another dimension of reality. I wonder if you darkened the human figure to a silhouette if it would be slightly more mysterious. |

I like the distraction of the pumpkin in the path of light; maybe cropping in would help get rid of the shadow. Peter, that little girl is screaming to get back in her parade, she is adding to your baboon photo...those pumpkins now are the size of the girl and look alien to me. |

What a cutie! I like the bubbles! Peter's suggestion is a good one, or maybe the water of the original? Most frogs are not in clear blue... |
