No, I was not panning. It was hand held. I want the bird to have space to fly, and if I flip it then there is too much space behind it. |

Thanks Jon, you are correct the bird is soft and my ISO was low in addition to shutter speed. I am learning! My new OM-1 has that A-I tracking for birds and I am slowly learning how to set up the camera. |

What were your settings on the camera?
what a nice macro of the ice that can form on plants - so delicate! Well done capturing it! |

I would keep a little more of the blue in the sky as it is a nice gradient from the water and yellows of the ground. Maybe just crop out the clouds at the top for balance. |

Very nice. It is a good reminder to us of what life was like before artificial light; and I love the natural light on this woman's silhouette. Nice tones and management. |

I have fond memories as a child riding my friend's pony on the beach of Bainbridge Island, Wa.
I love the contrast between the light and dark horses, perfectly positioned to see both of them together. The riders are at the correct distance so that the horizon doesn't cut off their heads. I also note the nice reflection on the beach. You have left enough room for them to ride and a feeling of openness with so much sky. Leave this image alone the way it is!! |

Edit: Birder not bird. A term for people that collect images or sightings of birds. |

Beautiful shot, and a bird we don't see often in my area. You are correct that catchlight in the eye makes the image. Sorry, I don't know your new camera; I am coping with a new OM-1 which is what I switched to from Canon years ago. |

Bust Your Butt Falls? What a funny name...did you have to do a long hike to get there?
So I agree the orange filter (then conversion to monochrome?) worked, and the water didn't. I like the trees, but the water looks like ice and lacks definition on the falls. I'm not sure if there is any way you can fix that. |

Hi Debbie,
My apologies to the group, my infrared camera needs repairs, so no image this month.
Debbie, I would suggest that you explore the contrast and texture in Silver Efex Pro. Were you working on a .tif file in Lightroom the second time, or did you enter Silver Efex from Photoshop? If you want to change things later, you won't have it on the layers if you use Photoshop.
Overall, you did a great job with the final image!! |
