I have been there, and I think I know that tree. You could save two images here, as Renee points out, there is a blurred background with the tree. There is also the background without the tree. Ha, I'd go for both but not together. |

Well, after reading everyone's comments, I have a new idea: I don't care for the left side of the image. I would crop it in to the light. Maybe people didn't notice that there is part of the crossbeam sticking out on the left? Good eye on capturing the lights and the exit sign. I think the bottom bar is distracting and would crop that as well up to the sign. |

I really like the softness of the trees and snow through the window. It does contrast with the colors of the stain glass. I would consider getting rid of the lamp shade, and moving the plant over so that the objects don't blend into the shapes of those behind them. |

This image has the feel of a step back in time. Keep the structure on the left, it matches the bricks in the station building and gives it authenticity. Although I love the red train, I wonder what it would look like in monochrome? |

Thank you. I was concerned about the rim lighting since so many oversharpened images create a rim, but this was natural. |

It is always a challenge to photograph a family member; like doctors, we can easily get in trouble. Congratulations on your mystery man. I agree that the light needs to be just slightly more detail on the dark side of his face, ohterwise he lacks part of his jaw. I disagree with Jon about the idea of a fine grey line; the mystery is added as he does blend into the darkness. |

This is a beautiful waterfall, and you have a beautiful image. The luminosity mask is something I have started exploring. I think it is a worthwhile application here. Nice details in the trees. What was your shutter speed? You have maintained details in the water that tells me it was a good choice. |

Well, in Washington State we don't grow citrus (it is 29F right now). We do have Honey Crisp, Pink Ladies, Envy, Cosmic Crisp, Jazz, Fuji, and Red Delicious of course. |

I have no idea what a honey bell is...are they a type of pear? Whatever they are, they are well photographed. The addition of the "glow" is a good one, it adds interest. |

Wonderful little puffy clouds, leading lines and textures. I wouldn't change a thing. |

This is a lovely abstract, I like the softness. I have played with Lightroom turning clarity to the negative with photos, and this is the ultimate, very inspirational. |

Interesting shot. I find the horizon and background in sort of a muddy tone. I would suggest that you crop in from the left and down from the horizon to bring more attention to the water which is very dramatic, and has action in it. |

If you didn't have the description, and I took that part of the photo out, would you guess better what it is? I could blur it more, but I'm not sure I want to do that. I could just remove the pile of junk in the middle, and leave the Joshua trees. What do you think? |

I always appreciate a good excuse for not cleaning windows. I will add it to my collection, that includes that dust is a protective coating for furniture! What a cool image! I like the "Lost in Space" effect...and am wondering what gold this universe holds from a sun...what a knack you have for seeing the possible image from the everyday! Brrrrr....17F ??? |

Hi Lynne, You have created a wonderful sense of texture with this technique. I was pleasantly surprised to see that you didn't use a purchased background. I have found it fun to take photos of my own backgrounds. The stores that sell scrapbooking supplies also have a myriad of papers that work well. For this image, I noticed that left lower corner is darker and a different tone that the upper right. I'm not too concerned about it, but I am thinking that if I were to use this as a card or wall hanging I might lighten the corner more. |

I don't know about the white steaks. Might be bird poop, or any number of natural things. |

It is fun to see what you can do with an image just playing with it. If you were thinking of Van Gogh's Starry Night, I don't see the similarities; but you have created your own snowy night with the snowflakes. They do look like longer than 25 sec exposed stars. There is a dark tree outline behind the lit branches, almost a layered effect. I wonder if you brought out those trees if it would contrast with the lit tree branches. More mysterious... |
