27 Nov 21 Comment We all need them, and this one has character! Isn't a "loo" a toilet or outhouse?

Might have been a good HDR shot. Try lightening the green trees in the background a bit to give contrast to the stick trees.

Very funny and there has to be a story here!

27 Nov 21 Comment Nice leading lines. We had an amazing Autumn in the Pacific NW Washington state, so my condolences.

Any chance that you cropped the top off and could restore the top of the trees? I think that the crop on this photo is not helping it.

Alternatively, you could crop the sides and the photo would be about the fallen log and the tree reflection in a portrait view.

27 Nov 21 Comment Wait...the original here is the one that was posted with Renee's photo. Brad...

I was introduced to concept of hygge, by a Norwegian friend. It is that sense of hunkering down and enjoying the warmth of a home when it is dark and stormy outside.

Becca, I want to see more light in the photo. I know it is a night shot, and the capture is wonderful, with the light from windows reflecting on the water, but I can barely tell that there is a home there without your title for a clue. On the other hand, it does give a sense of mystery that makes me think of mulled wine or cider on a winter day.

27 Nov 21 Reply Brad, I have two screens, and one is really well calibrated. When I moved the photo to the calibrated screen, I noted that the image has more dark tones and contrast. Just thought I'd mention that. Nov 17th
27 Nov 21 Comment I stack images all the time, and I think that was a good choice. I am impressed by the reflections and the shapes in this photo. Good eye. For the monochrome conversion, I think you made an excellent choice, because the shapes of the mountains and repeated triangles create a lot of drama, with a wonderful sky. Nov 17th
27 Nov 21 Comment I am confused by the Original shot. Is that the same photo?

27 Nov 21 Comment Great Milky Way shot. I would play a bit with the tone of blue, perhaps a bit dark to bring out the stars more. I understand the golden horizon, and I like it, but this seems a bit too bright. I agree with everyone that the tree on the left is distracting. Although you have a nice reflection of the driftwood on the water, I would crop up from the bottom. There is an element of simplicity that is missing from this for me - I think too much is going on in the photo. Nov 17th

35 Nov 21 Comment Wow we are all going to Oregon!! I like the three tiers of waves, however I also think that the texture in the water was oversharpened. That might be adjusted in your use of the Topaz sharpen AI. Did you run their recent update? Nov 21st
35 Nov 21 Comment Very nice perspective, leading lines, and textures in the buildings. At first I thought it was an older photo because of the clothing of the woman walking towards us with the black top, it seemed out of the 50's. Then I realized that might also be because it is in black and white. One thought about people in the shot...if you do a long exposure, most people that are moving will disappear. Nov 21st
35 Nov 21 Comment I am on a PC that has a calibrated screen, and I agree with Julie, the mountains have a fringe and the sand needs lightening slightly for texture. You have captured well a moody landscape and one of my favorite scenes to shoot!

35 Nov 21 Comment Very dramatic color, and nicely framed with the arch of the tree. Interesting! With this color of sky, it makes me think of warning -
"Red sky at night, sailors delight; red sky in morning sailor's warning"

35 Nov 21 Comment St. Francis belongs outdoors, with plants and where the animals live. I like this shot against the texture of the tree, but I think you could switch the light onto the statue and darken the background more. Use that dodge and burn layer in Photoshop? I think it would make the statue stand out as the subject. Nov 21st
35 Nov 21 Reply Thanks for the idea of the luminosity mask. Our NW Council of Camera clubs just had a convention with Nic Stover. He will be teaching a class on luminosity masks in early December, very affordable at $30. Have you heard of him? Nov 21st
35 Nov 21 Reply Thanks for the feedback. I am finding that there is a difference on the water brightness between my two screens; but I did try a control point in Silver Efex. What I got was more gray. The bushes did benefit from increased structure with Viveza, thanks for the suggestion! Nov 3rd

79 Nov 21 Comment Is this for a bird's eye view of the all seeing eye? I think the bird in the triangle is stretched into the image. Perhaps another bird or just not stretching it to fit so much. I like the flipped image because the tree would be the start for the flying bird. Very fun infrared image colors to play with! Nov 14th
79 Nov 21 Comment You could go with inkblot on this one too. Striking colors and fun interpretation for Halloween. Nov 14th
79 Nov 21 Comment This reminds me of the Memorial to the Victims of Communism in Prague. It is a series of statues going up a hill where the human form is losing pieces of the body and identity. I like the road that is going through the body, and the stop sign...sort of a message that culminates in the loss of identity. The image of the cell phone lets us know it was a window, and a "selfie" in the sense of reflection. As a photographer, I find the lack of focus jarring, but then so is Covid. I just did a training for tutors of elementary students on the effects of Covid, and one of the psychological impacts we discussed was the impact of masks and the loss of identity and social skills. I might not like this image, but I can understand it as a reflection of what is happening in our society, and that is still good photography! Nov 14th
